  • Problem with sound input.

It's most probably the sound card causing this. First make sure it's plugged into the pink port, and then make sure 'Microphone' (or something equivalent) is selected as the record mode in Windows' volume control panel.

If it's Vista you simply right click the volume icon on the task bar, choose 'Recording Devices', and then set 'Microphone' as the default. If you're in XP I believe it's slightly less intuitive and you have to go to File > or something while in the full volume control to find the recording modes.

I would imagine it's pretty much certain New York got its name from the original York, yes.

I didn't play Resistance through to the end, but I was certainly impressed by its weapons — very imaginative, which is what you'd expect from the same guys behind Ratchet and Clank. I also liked the use of real-life UK cities, including York which I used to live in.

I'd say out of all the first-person console shooters out there, Resistance falls into the higher end of the bracket; there aren't that many that're actually better than Resistance.

Looks like people are already getting somewhere with the power of Flash player 10. Check out this partial remake of Doom:

It does seem irresponsible for the New York Times to be giving kids adult-rated games to play, especially when you have so many parents out there who just don't understand how graphic and unsuitable for kids many of today's games can be.

Valve must have some kind of special arrangement with Garry, because I'm fairly sure that someone working on games being released via Steam told me a few months ago that Valve takes a 10% cut. skdr evidently heard/knows this from somewhere too.

Well, maybe. Former MapCore regular and creator of Garry's Mod revealed last week that his mod has sold an insane 312,541 copies on Steam thus far, which at a rate of $10 per copy means it's netted revenue of approximately $3,125,410.

No idea how much of this actually filtered through as obviously Valve takes a cut and whatnot, but wow. It must be inspirational to see how much he's come on from first posting those crappy screenshots in #mapcore of experiments he was doing weeks after HL2 came out.

I don't think it's MGS5, and I don't think it's a 360 port of MGS4. The url is "mgst", which a lot of people are assuming is "Metal Gear Solid: Tactics", which would then presumably be another PSP MGS game.

I noticed that, but I was thinking more along the lines of 'teaser'.

Doesn't matter if it's old. I hadn't seen it, and I'm willing to bet at least a further 50% of MapCore hasn't seen it either. So stop trying to stifle discussion just because it doesn't perfectly suit your own viewing experience — it's that kind of shit that eventually makes people stop posting cool/funny things.

Well, to be fair MGS2 did come out on the Xbox. I wouldn't mind if it came out on the 360 because it's an awesome game and I'd love for everyone to have experienced it.

Unfortunately it's a game you can't really enjoy anywhere near as much if you haven't played the preceding three titles, because MGS4 is probably the ultimate example of a 'fan service' game that goes well out of its way to play with your nostalgic emotions, etc, and relies upon a thorough knowledge of the previous games' stories for the plot to make an ounce of sense.

No idea what it is, but I'm looking forward to it whatever the case.

Only problem is that MGS4 was so awesome, it's hard to imagine how they can top it without compromising the way everything was nicely tied together, etc. I mean, the story of Solid Snake has pretty much nowhere to go so it'd have to either be an alternative character or be like MGS3 and go back in time somewhat.

I do suspect this'll turn out to not be a Metal Gear Solid 5, but some kind of side title like we've seen before. MGS is such a strong property though, I reckon a proper MGS5 will happen — and Kojima will undoubtedly be unable to resist being involved.

Not sure what point you're trying to make st0lve, but let's not turn this into a silly anti-whatever thread, please — this is about Killzone 2.

Sentura, the game support is entirely dependent on the game itself. I have no idea off hand which games have been designed to support a keyboard/mouse, but I do know from personal experience that Unreal Tournament 3 is one that does.

It's kind of just a comfort thing, really. I certainly wouldn't ever substitute my PC when it comes to proper competitive gaming like TF2, but sometimes it's nice to just relax in a big, soft chair and enjoy a linear single-player console FPS — especially when many of today's single-player FPS games seem to generally be better optimised or exclusively for consoles.

With that said, the PS3 does support a mouse and keyboard for those that can't live without them. I don't think they even have to be official Sony ones; I know some Logitech ones work, at least.

Looks like this is going to be a pretty nice game.

Sony's got a lot riding on it, and there's a lot of pressure for it to deliver in the graphics department. I think there's a high probability it'll be a good play.

It'll take a lot of unsettle the MGS series' music from my favourite spot, but I haven't really listened to the Uncharted soundtrack properly — I'll dig out the game this weekend.
