Wait, what? The original PS3 does AA on PS2 games?!
God damn. I really hope there eventually comes a cheaper way to do that because I'd love to replay the MGS games with AA. ![]()

Lovely style. It's great to see colourful, stylish games becoming more frequent after so many brown, dirty games. ![]()
It is rather spectacular. When shrank a bit (ie: viewed on 1024x768) that first shot looks like a render. ![]()
Funny that they mentioned the Battlefield thing, as that actually annoyed me when I played it years ago. It's not at the edges where you see that foliage, but actually throughout the map. Sometimes you can walk through patches of trees like shown in their screenshot, whereas sometimes an invisible boundary stops you going between them. I remember finding a great sniping spot and not being able to get into it because of such a patch of trees, even though I'd just been through half a dozen similar patches to get there. ![]()
Now now Mazy, we can't forget the first and best. ![]()
Good to hear. ![]()
I did read good things about it, but it came out so early in the 360's life not many people really talked about it and I kind of forgot it even came out. It's so cheap now I thought I might as well, and Rare haven't let me down yet!
Quote from seirIf you didn't play COJ1 wait for the new one, it's a prequel so after playing the COJ:BB one and switching to old COJ1 you'll continue the story.Edit:
[HP], yeah, COJ1 was really nice in 2006/07 but it had big system requirements.
Depends though, often prequels are designed to be experienced after their predecessors — an obvious example being Metal Gear Solid 3. I wouldn't hold off playing CoJ if you have the itch. ![]()
Kind of sad to see how much of an influence EGM had on all these current press types:

It does sadden me to see another well-respected gaming magazine going down, because there're not many of them these days. I'm sure a lot of people don't read any, but some really are worthwhile even in this age of Internets (albeit for their articles and features, not news and reviews). Pretty much the only thing I read in the non-digital world!
Quote from e-freakwow and I thought game development had moved on since Doom 1 o_O Something like Storyline, Plot, Sub-Plot, Artstyle, Innovative Gameplay in any kind...
It's clearly a video of just the shooting element, though — other videos have showed the things you describe. To expect a bullet physics video to contain anything other than bullets flying around just seems a bit strange to me. ![]()
It's an FPS... of course it's what makes the game up. ![]()
One thing that makes Edge and games™ so good is that they have so many excellent articles about the industry, development, etc. As far as I'm aware 1UP was also known for interesting articles like this, as well as its podcast — not its reviews and news.
It seems ridiculously ambitious for them to think about doing five sequels. There aren't many examples of games or even films that can really stand up to that kind of longevity, with their cited Star Wars being one of the few exceptions.
Quote from Pericolos0Who likes video game reviews/reviewers anyway?
Is this a serious question? You don't have a particular publication or site that you like, trust, and frequently read? If not, you're a bit of a minority I think. ![]()
I think it's a ridiculous attitude to call people nerds and whatever because they're complaining that a very high-quality gaming publication is (probably) now toast. Maybe you're so indifferent to the games press you don't actually have any favourite sites and shit, but if you did I'm sure you'd be a bit annoyed too.
I personally didn't read 1UP as much as I read things like Edge and games™ (magazines), but I'd be very pissed off they were screwed up because of something like this as they're pretty much the only remaining great games magazines, constantly delivering great articles about gaming in general. I do know 1UP was very well respected for its quality, and I'm guessing those who're saying "Who cares?" very rarely actually visited it.
It's not hard to see why people are upset when things like this happen as reading magazines and such can constitute quite a bit of one's leisure time — like using your favourite forum, or playing your favourite online game.
You will be sent to hell by God for not reading quality gaming publications!!!!!
Bleh.
What a good site to be hit by such horrors.
Maybe some of the staff will find their way to the superb GiantBomb. Seems to be a bit of a haven for former journalists on big sites, founded by GameSpot/Kane & Lynch controversy star Jeff Gerstmann. ![]()
Those Hessi models would be 10x better if he were pulling the Max Payne 1 expression. ![]()
I generally like to see portfolio sites in general with a darker colour scheme. I think it helps the screenshots/images to stand out better, whereas with a light/white background like on this new one the white kind of darkens the screenshots and takes the emphasis and detail away from them because of the laws of contrast.
I think it'd work if it weren't a site so intently focused on showing off those images. ![]()
One step closer to the coffin.
Wait no, I mean happy new year!!
