I really dislike it when things like single-player weapons and items are purchaseable. It really takes away the allure and mystique when I know the key to earning such treasures is to fork out more money.
I don't mind paying for what is essentially an expansion pack, for example Fable had a few which included whole new areas full of quests, items, etc — that was OK.

Jor-El is Superman's real father, as performed by Marlon Brando (also with an English accent) in the original:
I say metaphorically because he's not really god, but there's a clear analogy there because he sends his son down from the heavens to be an inspiration and guide for the world.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. I think the accent suits the role very well personally and am really looking forward to Russell's performance in the role. -

Gotta say, no real interest in a new Vice City. It was a great game, but not all that different to GTA4 and its big gay expansions. SA was distinct for offering such a huge variety of environments, and I have really good memories of exploring the deserts, mountains, forests, etc — far more so than the other games and their endless city blocks and apartments. I mean, how much more gameplay can you really squeeze out of that shit at this point?

Cautiously optimistic about this. I always thought the first two Superman films were OK, and even the 2000s one was decent although the fact they tried to do a direct sequel after so many years while simultaneously pretending the shit #3 and #4 films didn't exist was both confusing and limiting. They should have gone the whole hog and rebooted it then, although I guess the whole idea of reboots and remakes was pretty sketchy at the time.
This, however, could be great. Zack Snyder is a great director IMO, and if he's working with Nolan I'm hoping the overall tone will be along the lines of the new Batman films. Superman is one of the more epic and rich comic book stories out there — certainly more so than Batman — the key is getting the tragic side of it right rather than focusing purely on the bombast and humour like the older ones did. The tone of the trailer suggests they're going in this direction, makes me happy.

BTW I think the Jor-El version is much more classy. Apparently both have been playing somewhat randomly in cinemas.

At least 10 confirmed killed at Dark Knight Rises premiere shooting in Colorado movie theater
Deaths like this piss me off.

Man, looks excellent. Definitely going to get back into BF3 with this, and will make sure I time buying a new GPU at roughly the same time.
Is there anything in Close Quarters that's actually worth having apart from the maps, like killer weapons? -
I dunno, if Marvin's idea looked like the first action scene in Sucker Punch I think that could be pretty sweet.
Although I think we're getting away from the concept of Battlefield here...

Didn't even occur to me this might work outside of TF2. How compatible is it? It'd be great to see some genuinely good HL2 machinima or something rather than the torrents of ludicrous shit the TF2 side of things seems to be producing.

I'm not really a big fan of the idea of an other futuristic BF game. It would be cool to have one that's set in the near future, like 10-20 years from now....
That'd still more or less be BF2142-style though, right? If you take away the mechs BF2142 takes a fairly modest approach to the whole futuristic thing, with most of the guns/technology being the kind of stuff we could very well see within 20 years. That's kind of why BF2142 worked so well IMO, because there were no silly lasers or OTT gadgets.

I don't really consider all those part of the core series though, certainly not 1943 and BC1 which didn't come out on PC. For us PC types there was a pretty long gap between 2006's BF2142 and 2010's BC2, and many people didn't even consider BF2142 a proper sequel as it came out a year after BF2.

I didn't like the feel of BC2 on the PC though, it had some lingering console-itis IMO. BF3 is the real sequel to BF2 both in spirit (not too much silly destruction) and variety of play.

The greatest and most creative works come from limitations, whether it's time pressure or crazy arbitrary rules.

True, but still prev-gen engine.
Sorry that I'm so annoying with that prev/current-gen editors but come on, Source is old.
People can still have fun working with it, though. Hell, we have guys on MapCore who still put together UT and Quake 3 maps, but they're fun to look at because you can appreciate the craftsmanship that went into it.
I'm totally all for making cutting-edge crazy stuff, but it's nice to see things on the other side of the fence too.IMO as long as people have fun with what they're doing it's all good. Obviously if anyone has professional aspirations they need to be using new technology, but this isn't always a place of serious business.
