HL2 sdk update tomorrow morning

Hammer works fine here except for these bugs I sent to Mike Durand. He already replied he'd try and get fixes for them asap.
1) Point_spotlight entity shows a red error model in Hammer. Rather inconvenient
2) Shaded textured polys render doesn't work, it remains simply textured (I used to have that at work too...). Works fine on models, doesn't work on BSP
3) Lighting preview (the simple one) simply shows all models in the map through the BSP
4) Selecting "Draw Materials Opaque" will make the 3d viewport turn black, until the user points the mouse cursor away and goes back to it, at which point display is refreshed

Light preview works for me.

The absolute best news in all this isn't in Hammer. It's in Vrad.
If you compile a map now, you'll see vrad does a new process for a couple seconds. It's called ray-trace acceleration, and that speeds up the rest of the VRad process ten folds.
My tf2 map now compiles in under 6 minutes. Used to take 35 minutes this morning.

Do you have an ATI card? I'm using an nvidia 7900.
-
i tried light preview mode with a hollow box and white light.
the light entity vanished from view and the walls all appeared as mono tone white and washed out.
ray trace mode just freezes.
i have an nvidia card

I have an Nvidia card too.
Did Valve just released an update which works only for half of pc market yet again?

-
I'm not restarting for fear that my half-broken 6600 will never be able to handle any of this.
-
Running on nvidia too, guys.
Light preview also lights up models very well in editor, awesome.

also, Furyo said you can't move in the light preview view, YES you can

Oh sweet

-
Then it got a whole lot better

I have a 8800 GTS, and I'm getting the same as Zete.
Another bug I found out about. We're still missing the vtex.dll to build cubemaps for TF2.

Which Drivers?

-
I understand this isn't calculating the shadows correctly etc. but you see what's wrong here

Which Drivers?

169.01 if I remember correctly.

skdr -> try this other lighting preview, the hardcore one.

-
doesnt work for me
-
I'll try the raytracing one. If that works someday, I'm sure it'll cast correct shadows.
-

You need to add "-engine ep1" to the launch parameters if you want to map for hl2dm
