I've been playing with this tool I found on devbump this morning, it's pretty awesome. There are a ton of different options to adjust. I would reccomend importing some of the presets that come installed.

seems like a nice and easy tool to create your own skies but i somehow cant get it to render it properly

Mhm, very nice looking tool. And it's even based on OGRE. Sadly, it doesn't have a Linux port
Oh well, looks quite promising nonetheless *downloads*
