Anti-Semitic discussion

    and I wonder, whats the diffrence between a racist joke and a anti-semitic one?

    Imagine Miss Berry would show a photo of her in the early teens with really bad theeths and say "Here is were I look like my english cousin" would that be a anti-brittish joke then? or if she stretched her eyes and said "Here is were I look like my chinese cousin" would that be a anti-asia joke?

    What I try to understand is why it's worse to hint that jews have big noses then (for example) brittish people have bad theets. And how something can be anti-semitic and not just racist or a "bad joke".

    antisemitism is the moderm naming of hostility (or racism) against jews. in the past, jews have always been persecueted, going about 2000 years back. i dare to believe this must have been the first global form of racism and since it was targeted to a semitic race, it was called antisemtism.

    just so to clarify; although arabs can be counted as semites too, antisemitism covers only racism against jews, not arabs.

    its also a phenomena that just doesnt seem to leave. its always been there and even more worrying; its growing again.

    as far as the halle berry joke. that was an innoncent joke but she made it on tv and thats way more sensitive then to make it to your friends. if she made a negro joke she would be burned for it aswel. has nothing to do wich minority she might offended.

    feel sorry for her though..

    I am seriously tired of people getting offended by every possible and impossible sentence that they hear of. Drama queens are NOT cool and should not be allowed to dominate as much as they want to.
