Ipod touch

I thought of buying this one also, but I won't for two reasons, first Is the price, secondly you can't change musics neither you can increase or decrease the volume of the music, while the ipod touch is in you'r pocket, I mean, the idea of not having any buttons is nice, but all the input you make on it, you obviously have to be looking to the screen, I don't imagine myself having to look to the screen every single time I want to increase the volume or change the track!

Nevertheless, it's still a kick ass and revolutionary MP3/MP4 player!

Yeah, I think the whole touch screen thing is good for a phone (remember that the iPod Touch is basically an iPhone with some of the applications removed), but I also don't really look at my player much while using it and so would find the touch screen thing kind of counter-intuitive.

If it's just the non-music aspect that intrigues you, hold on for a while. Lots of other companies are racing to get their own touch screen devices out, and Nokia's in particular showed a lot of promise when it was unveiled a short while ago. LG also has a good one coming out imminently, which has a 5-megapixel camera with proper flash (good for a phone).

I'd say it's a little overpriced for what it actually is. But then, that's what Apple do best -- they sell style. If you can justify that, it's entirely up to you.

I read a review on it, forgot who reviewed it, but everything was greatly reviewed except for one minor feature that was disliked. A Starbucks feature that allows you to buy songs that are played in Starbucks, lol. Other than that it was greatly reviewed and I hope to get one some day as well.

To add fuel to the fire, I just got a zune. It was only like 100 bucks, I coulnd't pass it up.

Hated it when they first announced it (Since its basically an iPhone minus some of the really cool stuff), but after a while I kinda started looking a bit more positive on it. However now I'm sure I'm just gonna get an iPod Classic. Some people at work have got some and they're really slick, and although it might not be the huge change I was looking for, since I already got an iPod Photo, then its a lot thinner and 20gb more. And then I can get an iPhone without feeling too much like a fool

Also aye HP, the entire situation with scrolling music and especially turning the volume up and down, without taking it out going through the entire unlock procedure, is a big minus as well. You'd probably need a remote if you wanna use it as an MP3 player

do yourself a favor and get the iphone. the only phone that remotely comes near the iphone is the blackberry in terms of functionality and options

and the nokia isn't the only phone that is comparable to the iPhone - not to mention manufacturers will be pumping out new shit to compete with apple (or at least to compete with their marketing dept) so you'll get better manufacturers (ie: good support, warranty, service etc) with phones of equal or better quality for if not the same price then possibly less. I don't understand this fascination with Apple products - it's not like they have ever done anything ground breaking except maybe their first computer and after that it's all been downhill.

And that little rant is why I won't be buying any apple portable products - I have a 10 pound mp3 player (stores 1g and is enough for any trip I make), a PC that does everything I need without requiring any software (shockingly I can drag n drop music onto my mp3 player without requiring iTunes) - and my phone works rather well for text msgs and phone calls - good rates, easy to use, built well with a warranty that will last until the phone stops being supported (4 or 5 years yet).

So, I don't feel the need to buy into apple's 'way of life' bs when everything I have or can get will do a better job for less money and less hassle. Or do I need an iPod and an iPhone and an iTouch in order to be a "cool artist guy"

This would be valuable advice if the year was 2002. The only thing the iPhone has over other phones would be the touchscreen which is:

a) Nothing new

b) Not well implemented, I like not looking at the screen whenever I want to use my phone.

Edit: Actually, seeing as the US is quite far behind Europe in terms of mobile phones I suppose it might be a new thing to them but I'm pretty sure when the iPhone hits here it will not be pleasant for apple.

I think it will be, people love the simplicity and the sleekness of the ipod stuff.. .

well I mean...as ginger_lord said, as american I don't have 3G options so that weighs heavily in my endorsement for the iphone. I've mostly had blackberries for the past 5 years (the older ones and two of the newer versions). The only pitfall for the iphone for me is the camera, which in corporate America is usually not allowed.

that said, the iphone is definitely more of a toy than anything else. it's fun to play around with and people are always impressed by it. I'd say what puts the iphone at the top of the list for me more than anything else is the fact that the screen is about 2x the size of your average phone. That and it's flawlessly integrated with the ipod interface and one of the only phone/mp3 hybrids I've used that doesn't look retarded.

again this is all personal preference, from a technical standpoint I'm aware that the iphone is easily trumped.
