...are going to continue with HL1 stuff even when HL2 is out?

    *raises hand*

Don't get me wrong, I'm totally wanting to play HL2 and find out what sort of things you're going to be able to do and how to do them with the engine, but I'm still kinda thinking of doing a decent HL SP thing seeing as all I've released are two CS maps (and pretty crap ones at that). I've always wanted to do it, but I've always got sidetracked in the past by either losing interest in the idea and starting another one or not having enough time to actually do anything. I've no time for MP maps anymore, because HL MP bores me to be honest...

    What about everyone else?

ditto to TFC, but just finished my last HL map as far as I concerned. If they do a source port of TFC I may convert some of my maps over but that doesnt really count

Until Nightwatch and The Specialists 2.2 are out. I will surely play the latter for a long time though.

I case it flew over your head, I wasn't refering to actually playing certain games. Of course, people are still going to want to play Halflife and it's mods; that's beside the point. Even I load up Doom2 every now and then... but I don't map for it anymore...

My picture was refering to mapping with ancient tech when you could very easily be using prettier, newer, more flexible tech, reguardless of what new engine it is.

I admit I opened up worldcraft yesturday for the first time in 2 years but from an editing POV HL2 is better than HL and CS will bring over the gamers, there's not really a lot of point unless you have something specific in mind (a certain mod, for example, but most of them are going to be ported).

I got what you mean TWTW if it makes you feel better

As they say, "Flogging a dead horse." heh.

Anyways, I will if I have too. Currently working on Master Sword : Continued, and until my jobs done, I'll continue to work on it. I've really only released 2 and now a third map using Half-Life (excluding all my private maps), but I've feel i've done enough. I just wish I created my Half-Life sp project I made all on paper when I was still a super uber fanatic years ago.. Pitty I missed my opportunity for that. Anyways, that's another story...

I'd be a fool to choose standard Hammer over Source's equivalent.

HL remains popular because in shitty countries you can have a worthless computer with no vid card and still run it.

    Best reply so far.

Just because a new game comes out doesn't mean everyone has to jump on the bandwagon and leave whatever they're doing. I still have the potential to do something decent for HL and actually get it done, whereas with HL2 I don't really have any ideas (except possibly a SS2 clone). At the end of the day I map for my own pleasure but if everyone else gains fun from it then great..

Hey, people still map for Quake y'know...
