batch compiler problems

i had to reformat recently and lost a lot of files, but managed to recover most of the important ones except my studiomdl.bat file from the desktop. i used to just be able to drag qc files onto it and they'd compile and go in the models folder of whichever game the sdk was currently set to. but now i can't get it to work again. i've tried searching in google, but all the results either don't work, or involve putting a path to the qc itself which is no use for dragging any qc onto the compiler.

if i do drop a file onto the shortcut on my desktop, i get an error telling me that i've used bad or missing options, before giving me all the available studiomdl options. here's the file i'm using:

    studiomdl.exe

    pause

i've tried using compiler tools but it's too much trouble when i used to be able to just drop a file onto this shortcut and have it all compile and go to the right place in seconds. the file itself is in the sdk/bin folder, with a shortcut on the desktop, but neither of them work. so is there actually still a way to do this, or is there just some problem with the batch file i'm using or the sdk settings that'd cause this?

I know you said you've tried other compilers but have you tried my GUIStudioMDL2?

It is nothing more than just a graphical front-end to StudioMDL.exe and you can just choose a game from the drop down list. You only have to load the QC file once as every time you press the compile button it re-reads it so you can just make edits to the .QC and save.

Just sounded like it does everything you're already trying to do in a BAT file.
