Thought I'd start a thread on this as i'll be looking for volenteers to play a few closed beta tests of the map soon and post feedback before go open beta.

Anyway thought i'd post an update to the map to show the progress made over the past month. Been mainly squashing endless bugs to get the visuals and gameplay up to scratch but now its VERY close to being ready for testing!

As you can see the river area is coming together, still needs more work I think and I have to work on the waterfall some more before it's good enough to show. Anyway will post the details of Playtests when the time comes but if you are interested then please let me know and post your system specs too.

    Thanks!

Love the map, hate the name

Do something that will make your map stand out more in a giant text list of map names so that people dont pass it up thinking it is some crappy fullbright prop fest.

Something like halcyon or woodland would suit it well, but those may be taken.

Aye!! De_forest is just a temp name while I think of ideas, any suggestions would be much appreciated!

btw im also looking for testers with lower spec rigs to see what performance is like. Im getting 70fps on the most demanding areas now and over 100 on the rest with my x800 so im hoping performance wont be too bad on lower end machines.

I love it, very nice natural environment, could be part of EP2 easily. Only needs some more structures/buildings (to my taste). Regarding gameplay, seems also quite interesting with so many possibilities to hide, however that maybe doesn't fit quite well with CS philosophy.

Certainly looks nice but I'm not sure how it will play and it looks like it could take a while to learn the layout.

This looks pretty damn good! My only small issues are that the rocks look generic egg-shaped and that the rockformation in the 2nd last shot looks lowpoly.

Very nice screenshots, I'm impressed. Are those trees customs or from EP1?

If not when can we lay our hands on them?

I'd also like to help test

    Specs

    AMD 64bit 3599+ CPU

    1024mb DDR400

    Geforce EN7600GT

I would like to add normals to the rocks but in tests it worked out too expensive, its a constant battle between image quality and performance/gameplay atm and with this map im really trying to get a good balance of the two.

I think it will work quite well with CS gameplay, I've tested it with bots and a few friends over lan and its been pretty fun so far, however I'd like to test it with a larger group (16-20 ppl).

As I have said before the map really isnt huge, it's roughly the same size and layout as De_Dust in fact but has more open eneded in gameplay terms.

Its all a risk, of course, but I think its worth doing something original than another factory map or office map.
