no update right now...devs are busy...seriously. we're in "media blackout phase" right now. i would love nothing more than to give out all the details here, but it's going to have to wait.

i think i should write a funny article about my experiences with Stalker after it's released.

Hmm...yeah I forgot about this thread since it's been a while plus the forums when down.

    So here's the low down...

THQ announced that STALKER won't ship until the back half of it's 2006 Fiscal Year. This means sometime between Oct 1, 2005 and March 31, 2006. As such, the stage 2 semi-public beta has not been scheduled yet.

So this was basically an exercise in futility. Sorry to get your hopes up, but that's just how this kind of software goes sometimes, especially when it's being developed in Kiev, Ukraine.

I wish I had more information, but honestly I don't. All I can say is that it is a very ambitious game and the developer simply needs more time. THQ is still very excited about it.

If the developer needs more time, I'm glad THQ is willing to give them time.

    Go STALKER!

The scale of STALKER does seem suitably epic. I'd rather wait a while and come up trumps, rather than getting a half-arsed product.

Played it already, was quite fun but i'll stick to HL2 and mods

It looked AWESOME though, lovely design. Didn't get a chance to play the singleplayer yet, but i'll wait for when it's released.

I'm looking forward to Stalker a lot. It's good news that they are being offered the time to get this game right.

More like a better timeslot to get more sales OR to help sells with other titles that were being published by THQ at the time. I woudln't be surprised if they cut funding for the stalker project some time ago, and they're working on a different project.

even if it did get pushed back because of sales strategy (it probably was), that doesnt mean they arent working/polishing it anymore..

DD...sorry but that's just not true. GSC needs more time and THQ agreed. This is one of those "when it's done" products.

I understand your cynicism, but that's simply the truth.

I hope both for GSC and THQ that the long development time will pay off in the end...before the graphics will be outdated

Graphics were actually really good so they'll last for uh another year or so. But even after that it will still be cool to walk around in a huge area around Chernobyl that's as i was told, about 70% accurate. Which is cool.

If it is released with the features that it promises, it will be quite the step forward, and make THQ a pretty profit. Please give them all the time in the world.
