Awesome! It actually takes skill to master your tricks and the environments are beautiful. Camera and controls are pretty solid. I will buy this one for sure ![]()

Was downloading way too slow yesterday, never got it down. Also fucking Forza 2 constantly steals the intarweb when you're not racing :G
Gonna check it later tho, hope its good
-
yup,. i totally know what you are talking about - i'm also glad you didn't bother to provide any links, it's cooler that way.

checked out some screens and read some articles - and man this looks fantastic. I've been waiting for something like this since Thrasher: Skate and Destroy.
THPS is utter shit, literally I wouldn't take a shit on it, it's not worthy of my faeces.
I guess I have a reason to buy an xbox (not too sure about how well PS3's online stuff will be).
-
Yar, sweet demo.

I predict a lot of retry attempts at challenges in the final game, especially ones that fail you for bailing (I imagine there will be some).
-
Why haven't I got an Xbox yet, cause I really want to play Skate.
Master the tricks, or to know what direction it is? Is it possible to bail on a trick? As in almost make it, but then you slam cause you didn't "flick it" enough? Or do you always make your tricks if you first flick them right?
-
Its pretty cool. Not quite sure if I'll get the full thing, but the controls does feel like they're pretty intuitive. Definitely not an easy thing to rack up combos in this one, at least not compared to THPS (Which as said; most milked dry franchise in the business).
Really interesting how they're focusing on the board here, rather than the person, makes it kinda hard to see whats over bumps and stuff tho.
-
I watched my mates play it a fair bit this evening (barely got a shot myself) and it came across as being pretty damned awesome. Looks like a definate buy to me, but I'll give the demo another shot tomorrow to see if I still feel the same.
-
Mazy, The Sims is the most milked franchise and don't you forget it!
The demo is really cool, alittle hard to remember the controls, but I had the same problem in THPS so I guess I'm not a skate person. I really dig the videoeditor altho I would like Max Payne slowness and not just 25%, I would also like to see the videoupload function acctually works.
-
AAAAH SO MANY DEMOS!! CANT KEEP UP!!!!
But yea, I need to play this too

How's the music?
-
I keep forgetting to snag this one, I really want to see how it handles.
-
Again, now that people might have tried it a bit more;
Is it possible to bail on a trick? As in if you flick it a bit wrong and then the board spins wrong and you slam? Or is it like if you have enough air to complete the trick, it's instant landing?
-
You're pretty much guaranteed to bail if you get your timing, landing angle, speed, etc wrong. Whether (or how well) you pull something off depends on a lot more than just landing straight like in THPS.
-
Yeah but there is no fun when you master the flick it system, then you are back to the normal stick every trick unless you twist the character. And that sucks, because in real life (which EA have claimed so many times that SKATE is a so realistic game) you aren't guaranteed that you'll flip or spin the board right.
From their first teaser, it looks so realistic, with the entire slow-mo nollie heel down a 10-12 stair, and everybody was cheering and such, and then later on, they released all these almost as unrealstic as THPS (1-2).
Too bad I don't have a 360, although SKATE would be reason enough to get one. Anybody have a working spare?

-
I think having it too realistic (as in not being completely sure you're going to flip the board enough) would just get really annoying in this game. The way it works is just about right, imho. Steep learning curve, but still challenging and fun when/if you learn how to do each trick in the game.
Of course, I've only played the demo, but I can see the full game being a lot of fun for a long time. It seems like more of a "sandbox" game than TH ever was, and of course the world is more realistic in the sense that most things you can trick off are... realistic.

You really have to play it to get a good idea of how the game plays.

-
Id have to say i got this the other day and have been hooked on it for some time. Played the demo all the way through about 6 times already. It feels very realistic and isn't like tony hawk at all. It seems they hit a real winner with this game and I'm def going to snag it when its comes out.
It felt so good to know what trick i wanted to do and do it . Feels almost like an accomplishment every time
. If anyone skates its definitely a game to try out.9/10 from me
-
BUMP.
released in the US for sex box. soon to be released in the UK and Europe.
so anyone got it?
I love how all the reviews tell people that the game might be booring if you need to have objectives all day and never plays a game just to have fun etc. and this is what Ive been doing in the THPS games for about 8 years, and finally, there is a game out there which really appeals to real skaters.
ps I just ordered an xbox 360 for this game.
