Well, it was announced in 2003, then it was announced again very recently, and now the official website is online with 5 new screenshots. The styling of the cars indicates it's the mid 50's or so, and the main character looks like a younger version of Tommy, in some ways.

OMG! I can't believe it! A sequel to one of the best games I've played...

Mafia is so much better than any GTA, I just loved it, the plot, the cars, the chars, gameplay, everything!

Looking forward to Mafia 2! Thanks for sharing...

    Ace.

The lighting in the shadow areas is kind of ass, though. Hopefully will be fixed.

Notice the b17 formation overhead.... could take place during wwii? (perhaps 41'-45')

I can't wait, mafia was probably one of my favorite games I've ever played. The story was awesome, particularly the ending.

Edit: could be right about it being in the 50's as the styling in the 40's was pretty much carried over from the 30's since few cars were produced/design during the war... I wonder if there is any significance of the bombers, then.

Yeah, my brother zoomed in on the bombers, I didn't even see them.

    Maybe it's the Korean War?

What's wrong with the lighting? It looks buuoootiful

Looks like 2K games got the next hit after Bioshock already lined up.

Whoa. On the back of the bus in that shot, it says "Empire City." I just noticed that. The next city for the game, maybe?

I meant the big shaded area on the left side of the street. The lighting in it seems really bland and flat.

I have to say the screenshot doesn't overwhelm me that much, though. Like the original Mafia it looks competent for sure, but 'beautiful' really isn't a word I'd use to describe it. It's just a decent interpretation of an old-style city -- not much style or imagination there.

Well, it does for sure successfully recreates the 50's mood.

I wonder if they'r using an improved version of the same engine as Mafia 1.

Er, it's the shadow of a building. The real thing is pretty bland and flat too.
