yeh, played the demo, its awesome.
Btw you can download the 67 page bioshock artbook for free right here:
demo defintely shows some influences (whether intentional or not) from a lot of obvious places, not that it's unoriginal, but rather it defintely shows these guys are gamers and movie fans and the put their whole heart into it and give some homage to other works. Most obvious things it reminded me of was Half Life (somewhat of a train ride in, a wrench for first weapon...) and of course Star Trek IV with the whale song and similar sound effects I thought I heard. And then there is the little "girl" monster...
This level was a very "indoor" episode but still fun. I liked the basic gameplay of main weapon witih right trigger and plasmid with left trigger...got used to the controls quickly. I'd like to play more of it and hope there are some cool puzzles in this environment. Very interesting atmosphere.
ok off to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
a wrench for first weapon is not half life ![]()

what kind of video game consultant thinks gordon freeman uses a wrench
you're cruisin for a bruisin
Although on a related note, Atlas does say "Go find a crowbar or something" just before you find it ![]()
God dman PC Demo, come on ![]()

FMPONE: Please keep the jokes like the one I edited out of your earlier post in this thread out of mapcore. I don't care if you are "kidding". You know what I'm talking about...
Rick_D: I obviously know Gordon uses a crowbar. Getting the wrench is similar in concept to getting a crowbar as a first weapon and that's all I meant.
You do have a wrench in OP4.
I can't wait for the art book to finish downloading ![]()
I had a browse through their art book.
Fantastic concept work the only stuff i didnt like conceptually was the style in which they originally painted rapture. I am glad their 3d team pulled it off better tho.
Thoroughly enjoyed the demo myself. You can certainly tell the developers behind System Shock are behind this simply due to the atmosphere of the game. The opening sequence was gruesome yet utterly beautiful at the same time. Pre-ordered my copy.
Valve's Raising the Bar was made better imho - more information and on the plot sticking informations. Also some of the concepts looked like alternated copies from there (Mr. Friendly for example).
On the other hand the concept is still nice and creepy. Maybe i'll pick up the game (just have to wait if imports are uncut)
I really like the look of the Bioshock. Levels have very strong atmopshere. Although when I downloaded the artbook, I was dissapointed. Their conceptual work seems rather "student work" looking for majority of drawings (enemies and environments). Valve's Raising The Bar is on a whole different level. I believe if they included more 3D renders with sketches it would balance it out better. Comparison between concept and 3D are a great visual representation of the art.

Which is a Half-Life expansion...
You started off with a wrench in Prey as well, if it aint broke.. why fix it?
Because people whine.
First thing I did yesterday after being away for 2 weeks was rush to my 360 and download the demo. Been having my doubts about whether the game was gonna be as good as its been getting hyped up to be, but I'll have to give into it now. The demo was brilliant (Best demo I've tried in years tbh, I so wanted more!), and if what all the reviews are saying then its got to be some of the very best of 07 (Which is saying a lot with a Q3-4 this packed).
And yeah, that meta score is absurdly sick. When was the last time you heard IGN actually pulling a meta score down? ![]()
HAHAHHAHAHHAA
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, PC demo! :X
