LEAD GAME DESIGNER (MMOG)
Overall responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Producer and Project Manager, and working closely with the programming and art leads, you will manage a team of designers to conceive a new and original concept for a multiplatform MMOG. This will include, among others, the following responsibilities:
• Conceive, design, and pitch original ideas.
• Create, maintain and coordinate the game design documentation (Concept Design, Detailed Design,…).
• Ensure the game design integrity and consistency throughout the entire project.
• Manage opinions and critiques (internal & external) to the game design and conduct these with clear and consistent direction to the Design team.
• Participate in the interface design and usability analysis of development tools.
Specific responsibilities:
• Lead and assist a team of Designer, ensuring that the production goals set for the department are met within timelines.
• Detect and foresee risks, providing practical solutions to detected design problems.
• Document and communicate relevant information to other designers and department leads.
Requirements:
• +2 years of professional experience designing videogames.
• Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills (written and verbal), being able to transmit difficult and creative concepts in a clear and concise manner.
• Highly creative thinker, able to transform ideas into feasible and entertaining concepts.
• Strong knowledge of basic game design and level design theory/principles.
Pluses:
• Wide knowledge about current tendencies in MMO games, virtual communities and virtual worlds, and the business models behind these.
• Degree in game design or similar related formation.
• Provide a document (max. 2 pages) analyzing the virtues and flaws of 2 of your last year favourite games, and how you would improve them.
