I need an MMORPG

I only really play Guild Wars, but if you're coming from wow, then Guild Wars will seem waaaaay too simple.

guild wars? simple? are you shitting me? by far, this game is one of the most mind challenging ones in pvp. finding a good build can take time, but you'll end up rocking quite a few crotches at the end. i like it as far as pvp goes, but it's not really a mmo (max level is 20), it's more like a fps in third person, and focuses alot on skill, builds, timing and teamwork. i recommend it.

if you're not into that, check out http://www.warhammeronline.com - it'll soon be out and mythic has produced one of the best mmo's out there IMO (as far as pvp goes (you actually get to use your end game character and content)), so i'll be checking it out as soon as i can get into beta (or buy it when it comes out)

any mmos not mentioned are shit (with the possible exception of neocron/matrix online, but they're dead... RIP)

PS: we're a few mapcorians that play guild wars, you'd probably get some good company if you gave it a go

I played it and it was pretty cool. Of course, i recommend you to find a good guild, but the game is cool

I recommend Planetside, but you really need to join a good unit to enjoy

Well Guild Wars isn’t really a MMORPG, but I agree it's probably the better option. Especially if you’re finding WoW’s levelling boring because it is definitely the most lenient one out there, and it’s not until max level does the treadmill go really boring.

I quit WoW a few weeks ago and looking back it was a pretty appalling game towards the end, every patch and the expansion has completely pulled it away from what it was initially and all progress gets flushed away every expansion (yearly).

Most of the time I pissed away, which was an awful lot, was prancing around in a circle on Orgrimmar bank watching other people inspect me and talking complete balls in whisper and guild chat. I’ve since realised I can talk complete bollocks to people without paying monthly fees.

what you do is mostly team based, usually working with classes that complement each other. the good thing about this though, is that you dont actually have to take human players with you. it is very easy to just bring along some ai that comes along and heals/tanks/damages mobs. the newer things introduced with the nightfall expansion is full customization of these non player characters, so you'll end up having your own little squad which you can command with extreme precision.

the game is mostly pvp based, but there are also alot of places to explore, and much design to be inspired by. i did alot of exploring on my own in all the expansions, and the whole world is quite vast and features amazing landscapes. this is probably my second favorite interest in guild wars; first being, of course, pvp.

another good thing is that while you can buy the main game and just play that, is that you can also just buy any expansion and just start on that. given, you'll have a lot less skills and classes to pick from, but you dont actually need the original game to try them out.
