the second one is very render-ish.
noob photo question but how did you do the hdr for the train image? I was only aware of the HDR of compiling low to high exposure images.. which I assumed were multiple images.. making me wonder how you got the train like that.

the EV +/- 0 is the base foto so if you'll get a photo of a moving train on that exposure that photo will be the base to editing. EV - will be a darker so you don't need a train - you'll need only a sky
EV + is a shadows - you can make that photo even on 1/50 - you'll need only "value" of a light. Than put it to Photomatix and cross your fingers REMOVED
