ok so i thought i might try my hand a something a bit more challenging with perhaps some metal in it and i came across this texture

    [Blocked Image: http://mapcore.org/halflife_jpg/freezerd1.jpg]

but im having a whole lot of trouble to get a good shape out those edges so i was thinking about a bevel effect... which i had with eye candy back with photoshop 5... uhm so anyways i was wondering if there was a way around using premade effects for this one or if there was a good plug-in with a bunch of useful effect that you guys could suggest (preferably a free one )

i would use a bevel just because its so difficult to create that by hand, but afterwards i would enhance the edges of the bevel with dodge/burn as fit. Also erase little knicks out of the surface edge that is being beveled so you dont have that perfect edge that makes it look so CG.

I don't see much error in terms of tiling for that textures, all I see is a bunch of white errors which muck it up! Anyways, I've gotten all the textures onto one file server now, but I know there is another out there. Is everyone alright with our development team using the textures (all credits given of course)?

csharp i think you should make the entire texture the color of your shadowed area, and then make the shadow a little darker. would look more like the origional

Heh yeah, and ain't each side of an octagonal stop sign supposed to have the same length? Your side lengths go all wild

Additionally (but a little nitpicky), "Verdana" is probably the very last font I'd use for signage. The font was created by Microsoft solely for screen usage, it looks awkward in print or larger sizes. Signage for the US can usually be lettered with the font "Interstate", which was created in the spirit of highway signs. Germany also sports a nice font family for their signs, called "DIN Schrift".

Sorry for the rant, but I just can't stand ugly fonts

Oops, my fault But they're both nearly identical and from the same guy... he must've been real lazy to just clone his own font and resell it to Microsoft o_O

BTW, the font "Interstate" I mentioned isn't freeware, but there's a freeware clone named "Blue Highway" which does the job just as good.

Awesome stuff here guys, keep it coming. Mike you should make a locked thread with your message and you update it with all the pictures so people can just browse your thread for the approved textures. It would make scrolling easier and than it would be less of a problem to talk about the textures in here.

It's nice, but I dont understand the rust. Most road signs are made of aluminum, which may incur some oxidation, but not like rust.

Actually, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that the rust is painted red. It's as if they took an already rusty piece of metal and slapped a stop sign over it.

Maybe it's blood from someone who didn't heed the warning.

Well, hello citizens of mapcore !

I'm kinda new to the forum, well this is my first topic and i just signed in to post a texture. Anyways, here you go:

    C1A0_FLIPSIGN6

I was scrolling through the textures to find a good one to remake but then i suddenly saw that image and just thought, what the hell, i'll just go for it. So i just remade one of the flipsign's. Hope it's not been done already, 'cause that would really suck.

    Remake:

Hope you enjoy ! Might even make all of them based on HL2
