Mom: "Look! I clipped these articles about video game industry from the newspaper!....Did they promote you yet?"

I get those all the time from all my family

When I was a little tiny baby (a few years ago), me and a friend used to play alot of SNES. We used to rent this sidescrolling fighting game, which you walked through different levels and kicked some ass. When we played this game at my friends house, his dad would look at it and say :

"What the fuck, this game is violent and stupid!! Return it to the store at once!!!"

If we played it at my house, my dad would look at it and say :

"What the fuck, his foot-movement isnt synced up with his actual movement speed, that's pretty silly".

    good thing my parents never really complained about the games, it was rather a matter of me not getting out enough D;

same here, but what could I do ? My friends dont like going out, except for lans or to play some soccer (which I'm not a fan actually)

Here's a question for the industry people :

If your parents warezed a game you worked on, would you beat them with a shoe?

What is this all about with moms clipping newspaper articles? Is it some kind of primeval instinct? I keep getting those placed on my desk as well.

"Now I'm really gonna trash all these computers!" - Mom, mad after an argue that wasn't related to computers/gaming/gamedesign at all ...

    Dad :

You're really addicted you know? You should go out more. I don't say it to annoy you, but I care about you and I don't want you to spill you're whole life on a stupid machine.

You've spilled you're whole youth on your computer. All those wonderfull years wasted.

You're gonna lose your girlfriend if you continue like that!

I'm going to throw your computer trough the window!

You're really sick! Get off the PC!

    Ohhhh.. Not again!

Please for the love of God!

My dad comes back from his work and asks to my mom were I am :

    - Mom : Guess??

Dad (playing FS2004) : Hey check it out! I landed again! .. etc

Grandmother : I smell something burning? Are you sure the PC isn't getting to hot? If I were you I would turn it off... you never now. (excuse for getting me off my computer )

What about phone calls? I could imagine your mom calling you in the middle of the night "Are you at that damn computer again???"...actually that could be my mom too.

Mom: "Why do you play that blooding shooting game? It's awful." (refering to Doom2)

    Me: "It's fun."

    5 minutes later...

    Mom: "Go clean the kitchen."

    Me: "Ok."

I come back to the computer 10 minutes later to find my mom on level 3.

My mom would play Mario, Burgertime, and Bubble Bobble with me and my brother. She'd also play a little King's Quest 6/7 every now and then. My dad didn't play as much as she did.
