There's a huge problem with your site.

We can't browse maps unless we've found a category which have maps in it.

When we're out of any game section and click on 'view maps', it should show maps for all the games on the site. And same thing with games and mods, when you click on a game, we should browse maps for every mod existing directly. In fact, FPSBanana for example as the perfect navigation but not the perfect design. You're the 'perfect' design but not the perfect navigation at all.

I completely agree with your earlier point, but just thought I'd point out that it already does this bit of it.

This exists already. Click Half-Life 2 (completed maps) and you see all the maps under HL2DM.

I'll think about browsing all maps on the site by clicking one of the map sections. That's probably a good idea.

Finding maps on the site won't be a problem soon, we hope, when the site is more populated. Of course we hope that all sections will have maps eventually, so you won't click on any sections that don't have maps. But perhaps your suggestion will help for the time being.

We also want to put some info about recent maps on the front page on a sidebar so the site feels more live - you won't have to dig to find what maps have been newly added.

    Thanks for the feedback!

yet another community without community. i don't even see classic maps like de_wanda or de_corse on the page. the only map for cs:s they provide is some gay aim_XYZ thing. sucks to be them!

    hessi:

mapwatch.net was only launched yesterday to the public! You're right, there's no community yet!

About classic maps, while we will archive and host maps developed to completion on the site, we want the community to be primarily built around the *development* of maps - not an archive of already-created maps.

The maps you see on the site are there as examples of what content looks like when it's posted so users know what they're getting when they post a map.

but you have to agree that what you show of by now does not attract good people/good maps.

and i dont understand why your community is so much better than mapcore for example. there are already dozens of map communities on the internet. why should people migrate to you? i don't see a single point.

you got to improve you website a lot. i stay at the core anyhow! <3

The point is the simple, functioning versioning system. Old versions of maps are archived and easily-accessible without having to make additional forum posts, create duplicate posts of the same map with different version numbers, etc.

The site is designed to aid in the development process by implementing a versioning system. I haven't seen this on any other mapping sites. If it's not something that's attractive to you, that's fine...stick to what you like

The mere fact they're offering free hosting on a (relatively) clean site and not some horrible mess like csbanana is good enough for me.

I would like to see the site layout a bit cleaner though, and not all web 1.5 like some kind of clan website. Keep it simple.

Other than that it's looking like a great little site. Good work.

I told him to post at mapcore not because his site would be any better then mapcore, not for any one at mapcore to migrate either, i allways have this feeling that once a mapcorian allways a mapcorian. But i thought it would be a good idea as ifO stated that mappers could have some where to upload their maps for free, and to get their maps out outside mapcore aswell. I couldn´t see anything wrong with that. Won´t like most mappers that their work is spread? And for last i have no way to tell if this will be a sucessfull site or not, but every site has to start somewhere right?

You condemn a user-submission based website because in the first couple of days it doesn't contain your level? Nobody's gonna debate that corse is an epic level, but your attitude here comes across as really self-absorbed.

you shouldnt take me that serious. try to imagine the " " but when a website starts people want that it is alive. this one doesnt offer a lot. it only takes. that's what i criticize.

Well I can see that websites of this kind without a strong community around it can be a bit of a turn off, but every website needs to start off somehow right? If it was launched yesterday (or the day before), you can't blame him for advertising it to spread the word and get people to join.

These things need time Good luck!

i basically agree frie, but what i would expect is at least a rip off from lanmaniax (concerning the amount of content). they could download all the maps, make screenshots, research the authors and link them on the page. maybe they will do that over the weekend. i would like to see some content on the website. websites without content are boring!
