Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know there's a new website I've just launched with my buddy Pha3z, called Mapwatch.net. It's basically a versioning and feedback system for mappers. I would have loved to use something like this for the maps I've made in the past (most notable - DM_1v1_meatless for Painkiller used in the CPL).

    Check it out!

    http://www.mapwatch.net/

    We're also on IRC: irc.gamesurge.net #mapwatch

Make requests for the site on the forum section of mapwatch.net (click the forum link on the left side of the page).

If there's enough support for a game/mod, we'll definitely add it!

Minotauro: should they map theyr faces?

seems like a good idea but i think a svn like system with torrent networking (like steam but with distribution share) would give it a uber experience

Come on, the photo is just for the first news post showing off the sexy creators!

Note taken on the p2p download idea, although I doubt if we'll be implementing something like that any time soon, if ever.

Good idea if you can get enough people to participate.

Is it open to Source too? (DoD:S, CS:S, HL2DM, etc...)

I registered for the site but I'm still awaiting an email to activate my account - its been around an hour which seems a little slow to me. Still, looks like a nice website and a nice concept. Hopefully it won't be as CS oriented as FPSBanana.

    sk3tch:

CS:Source and HL2DM are on the site already. We can add DoD:S if there's a community of mappers for it.

ReNo: Seeing what I can do for you here. I'll email you about that problem.

Also, the site will be oriented toward all games you see on the sidebar, as well as whatever additional games the community calls for.

News is submitted by users, and reviewed by admins before being added to the game news section or the front page. We don't want to hold any bias! We want all communities to feel at home on Mapwatch!

Just uploaded an HL2DM map to the page, and everything went pretty smoothly. As a suggestion I think you should allow more screenshots, allow them to be viewed in their original size rather than just the thumbnail, and even allow different screenshot sets to be uploaded per version of the map, seeing as you are focusing on aiding people giving feedback on in-development maps. Good job though, like the site

Hmm, the map hasn't shown up on the page yet...are you sure it uploaded correctly?

Didn't seem to have any problems, and it shows up fine on the "my maps" page, but as you said it isn't showing on the main map list No idea why I'm afraid.

Oh, I overlooked it - it's on the developing maps page!

    http://www.mapwatch.net/viewmaps.php?sec=1&game=4&mod=1

If you intended it for the completed maps page, I can fix it for you.

ReNo: You can get me on IRC at irc.gamesurge.net #mapwatch if you like

Hmm, yeah I guess just mark it as complete actually if you could please mate. I had sort of considered changing the weapon placement slightly but I don't think I'll bother confusing things as it's been released for a while now. I take it I can't do that myself? I couldn't see any way to, although I did see a button to "upload new version" which I guess would have let me mark it as finished.

Still quite a community still modding and mapping for it these days, but I really doubt any of them will use the site anyway.

Fixed that up for you. We're going to add the ability to change a map from finalized to not, and the other way around, by editing a map.
