Did you download the server file, or is steambans blocking custom content perhaps?

There is one nasty bug I found and also an exploit in that bagdad map.

Bug: If you activate a smoke grenade and you then start to sprint it won't get thrown away and it stickts to your hand. You cant change weapons anymore or drop the nade. Only thing you can do is to die and respawn. (That may happens to DOD players alot, since sprinting and throwing grenades is effective in DOD.)

    Exploit in bagadad map:

When accesing the one capture point which is located at a rooftop, you're right in front of a big box of metal. It's noclip, you can walk and shoot through it. So laying down in it enables you to capture the point and shoot anyone out of that thing without being seen.

It has a shitload of bugs, which is kinda the reason I don't like modders to "release when finished". There's just too much that fill fail at start. Awesome first release otherwise.

That nade bug happened to me too, take note plz

After some more time playing, the game is much more enjoyable, mainly because now I have a clear picture of what I must do. I'm used to this degree of realism, however these maps aren't easy to learn with so many spots and places to hide. Most of the times don't know where was the guy who killed me, but that's part of the challenge and I like it. I've been commanding some time, didn't too much except marking objectives.

BTW, I also suffer the map load bug, don't know why but it tends to happen the second time I try to join a server, after playing before.

I've still not been able to join any servers online, just freezes in map loading screen on Sending Client Info.

Mustve tried 20-30 times. All other source games work fine as does BF2 so not a PC/Firewall issue.

    After 4 hours of play:

Unless they add frag counter and better GUI / Overhead map...I think this game will go down the crapper. Also, more identifiable goals.

I was looking So forward to this mod. But it is kinda frustrating NOT knowing who killed you and from where.

In the INS forums the "hardcore" gamers say it's more realistic this way. I say it kinda takes the fun away from a FPS game. Might as well take away respawns and the "player has been KIA" notifiacions.

There has to be a trade off for realism. It's not real...It's a game.

Too bad though. Just my opinion and I hope not to step on anyone's toes.

    Gameplay > Realism

The kills thing doesn't bother me so much, but the hateful class selection and lack of map etc is beyond reason.

We are not the military, this is the internet, you will not be teamed up with people you trained with and know, you're teamed with a 13 year old who just wants to blow shit up and a guy so stoned he can't see the keyboard. In situations like these I'd like to know where my teammates are and not have to potentially die to find out.

I can't comment on who the devs are targetting, but it seems they want it successful and that means appealing (at least somewhat) to the foaming masses and that means making concessions to ease of use (not use, not skill in playing) and that fact that most people will be playing in public servers.

Here's one issue i found in the game :

    [Blocked Image: http://kokosovar.free.fr/ins3.jpg]

The support weapon of the insurgents, if not maybe all the weapons actually, is shooting a bit lower than the position of the rifle. Like in that pic, the rifle is above the obstacle, and however the bullet go right in it.

also when your a specting someone their muzzle flash is to the right of the gun, and in third person you can't see the gun.

This is simply a good, realistic thing. Remember that the barrel of the gun is about an inch lower than the sights.

Definitely gonna check it out this weekend. This must be the first real big mod release for Source. Looks like it could be a lot of fun if you play it with the right people. ~

Massive congrats to all involved. I can't check it out til I upgrade my PC but from the ingame stuff I've seen on youtube it looks like a hell of a release.
