    Hi all,

My new dod map is now ready! So you can take and test it men!

The bsp is too large, I know and it's a problem! It's because the map contain +/- 99% of customs things...but it still a problem. lol

I hope that you'll like my work and that you'll have so fun to play on it!

Looks like a slightly more detailed map then battlefield 1942. Better bsp trimming to accent and highlight buildings would go a long way.

Nice work Moroes. I agree with the guys above though, a little more dirt and grime; transitions, structure damage and staining would go a long way.

Great to see a slightly different theme for a DoD map though. Props for that

Congrats, dude. This will for sure be played on our next lan, hope we'll be able to test it in real game conditions, this time

hessi : Just one thing about what you pointed. Real planes do side-slide, because of the wind. This is clearly visible when the wind is strong. Birds fly a little aside to.

I like the pics I have to confess. There are not many

    desert-themed-Dod-maps out there.

    I disagree with Hessis last critique-image: I won't

recommend to make the crate Swastika-festooned...

Even though I'm a big fan of reality and facts that

might lead to problems I think.

    I once put a Swastika on a flag-model for DOD:S

but I preferred to change it into an Eisernes Kreuz,

    something like that:

    [Blocked Image: http://scott-ludwig.com/NWC/Prussia/images/ironcross1stclass.jpg]

I'm not exactly sure about legal results but if you

want to stay safe use somewhat neutral stuff.

Yeah the Iron Cross is more suitable as symbol, cause some people just explode in moral fury over swastikas.

i never said he had to add a hakenkreuz. all i said was, that he should add some "icon". though using nazi symbols is common in lots of ww2 movies like band of brothers etc.

... and there's already some hakenkreuz in the map.

(on the top of the entrances to the underground part)

I'll ask at Ranson if he can change his material...it's his model!

And for this hakenkreuz on my map, I explain it because I want to be near the reality! As Nyk018 said, you can find them on the top of the entrances to the underground part and in the spawn locations...

You are the only one to make the remark... and it's historical... thus I don't see where is the problem.

I know it's illegal to use the Nazi swastiska in any German shipped games, is that the same for user made content as well? Just curious.

Great looking map and good critics from hessi and Whoot!

if germany wants to sue him, thats ok.

really, its not like you can ban something from the internet, possibly they could sue the german people who downloaded his map.

    d3ads:

in germany we have a law that forbids any use of hakenkreuz, SS symbol or any other Nazi-regime related symbols. a few weeks ago there was an interesting situation at the court:

a tshirt designer made tshirts, buttons and other random stuff with ANTI-Nazi sybols. for example a crossed hakenkreuz or broken SS letters that show that he is against such ideology. first the court said he had to go to prison but then they noticed it is usage in a different politically correct way. so they gave him his freedom back.

using nazi sybols is critically, but as soon as you use them in custom content for dod:s for example it is not affected by the german law as soon as it is not shown in public or used in commercial ways. if you play a game or watch a movie with nazi items it is kind of "up to you". though i think every german knows these symbols so it is kind of foolish to not allow using them in a historical context.
