Blizzard's new game

Even with a new race, C&C3 is just as much C&C as SC2 should be expected to be SC.

Koko: If money alone drove Blizzard's decision to this project, we'd be looking at an announcement for new WoW expansions instead. And it still looks plenty creative to me, at least within the bounds that keep it worthy of the name Starcraft.

It's a bit early to talk about innovation isn't it? Unless I missed some update, they haven't revealed a whole lot yet. I'm expecting some feature announcement equivalent to the Warcraft 3 hero units, even if you didn't like them, I thought it really added to the game and changed the dynamic of the strategy.

well the truth is, if it were called "Ass monkey 5 the war on teror and oil" no one here would've cared unless a mapcore member worked on it

You're all falling on franchise fanaticism

If Duke Nukem Forever were "Jeff Conventional Bomb II" and/or not made by 3DRealms, you wouldn't be anticipating it and defending its development cycle after 10 years. No different here.

Yeah, it's franchise fanaticism. Blizzard has earned every ounce of respect they've gained over the last decade-and-then-some; they've consistently delivered solid and polished titles that appeal to both the hardcore and casual markets. Starcraft is still one of the top games of the RTS genre. When you've built that kind of pedigree (as few studios have done), you deserve some excitement over your games.

edit: now, should SC2 fail to deliver, that'll be cause for concern with the next Blizzard title, but they're running on a free pass right now.

His vote is that they make quality games.

    Its not a complicated stance.

you guys take this like a personal insult. i am just saying that it doesnt look like something i would buy as is. its just my opinion and i dont plan on changing it until i either see or hear more about it. stop telling me off because i posted my reason why this game in particular doesnt live up to my expectations at the given time

I think it looks pretty damn boring too.

Its just that people who have played most Blizzard games are probably not too worried because they tend to release pretty damn good stuff. I wont be buying it, judging by these screens alone...

And if the game was Ass Monkey 5 the War on Terror and Oil and we all sat here saying how horrible it looked, you would post how amazing it could be and we’re all tools for not waiting for more than a few screenshots and videos of an unfinished game before judging it.

I haven't seen the gameplay movie but from the screens the graphics are pretty meh to me... I was never really into Blizzard games I played StarCraft and it was pretty cool.. wasn't my favorite game ever... I was always on the Westwood team anyway

Even still I may pick this up just because it's like the old one but with additions and looks better... pretty much what C&C 3 was but that's what I expected and I have fun playing it... really isn't that all that matters in a game... fun?

Ohai! I won't read all the crap on the last pages where people who never played SC in the first place are all like "ooh boo hoo" and just wanted to tell them shadap

It looks coo. Anything like original SC+new units+higher resolution is welcome.

And those Koreans don't make the noises for no reason

    QUOTED 4 MUTHAFAWKIN TRUTH YO!

I totally agree that the graphics are hardly mind blowing, but they look good enough and like with WoW they have a very simplistic look that'll make it hold up in the long run. Their particles and effects look awesome though, that stuff looks sick.

But yeah, tweaked and improved Starcraft with 3D graphics? Sounds fine to me

    Now calm the fuck down

I dont think it looks very bad. Sure it might not be that hefty hires shit but at least they seem to have put some work into it. I rather have nice lowres than shitty crap hires just for the sake of it (like a lot of new games.)

They need all the cool features that CoH got to make the RTS maniacs go mad. Except for the Koreans.

hey yeah! lets go buy the same game with new graphics. it'll be so worth it  honestly, it doesnt look like it's changed one bit from the gameplay trailers and screenshots

haha, you must've be in a seriously bad mood when you wrote this and you just wanted to bash something, because this really doesn't make any sense. EVERY SEQUAL IN THE HISTORY OF GAMES AND MOVIES LOOKS LIKE THE ONE BEFORE IT. The point of a sequal is to add new shit to the old. I'll agree to that I was expecting a 4th race, but when thinking about it, starcraft doesn't need it. It would be too hard to balance properly.

And to those of you that whine about it not looking like crysis in terms of graphics. You really can't have studied Blizzard and their games pretty well. What Blizzard always have done is to take gurrent gen (NOT NEXT), and make it looks really awesome. This means that almost all current computers can run their game, and makes their game more popular. Releases like the new shooters where bad artists have to hide behind super-duper new shaders and high res stuff to make the game look cool brings the playerbase down. (sadly, this is a little true for crysis too, even though their artists are really good).

My point is, if you bash Blizzard for not making it look next-gen-super, you are just the kind of idiot that should gtfo of the games industry because its gameplay that draws players in the end. NOT GFX!

edit; if this doesnt get you in the mood you have no taste
