I don't think it's fair to judge "the other maps" on your own when it comes to anything but GFX and originality.

The problem with people who submitted maps scoring is that if we add all the scores together it'll skew the scores against them.

Agreed - I also don't think it's wise that entrants score the other maps.

I said that ppl who wished to test the maps should come on IRC and say 'lets go' but nobody did that.

Spellbinder and Sentura should rate the maps.

Also I don't recall there being an atmosphere category? I just went off what insta or evert said; I guess if there's a tie we can use atmosphere to break it ;D

How can you test the performance on a dedicated without any people ;p

Btw, almost all maps with elevators performed quite badly since they lagged. Worst was tyr

will this competition include both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards?

Seeing how this voteing goes I would just discard the idea of winners and just release mapcore mappack and allow ppl to polish their maps before that, since now it's just like Dodger said.

Edit: But we can leave it as it is and see how it will end up though.

Well that's democracy for you, doesn't always work out how you wanted ti to.

Just get more people to vote, spellbinder can cast his votes (he was there for most all of the tests), and get some of your friends/acquaintances to vote. I was shocked that asgar came so high when I thought it was a pretty uninspired map, but some people enjoy different things - we spent a good few rounds on tenements just playing with the physics props and admiring the details in the brushwork - such as the way the headcrab canister created the pathway through the floors.

Rocketsilo was ok, it followed the usual DM map rules but I think the bland lighting and texturing let it down, plus the fact that the spawns were ill-placed considering most of the fighting happened on the bottom level.

Some of the maps deserve to be released in a .core map-pack and others don't imho, the laggy and ugly maps shouldn't see it in, there were 15 maps, I say we compile a mappack with the top 7/8 maps and release it - some of the maps are very fun to play - however they are suited to a maximum of 4 players before they get laggy and become unplayable - so perhaps we need to make that very clear.

As for a prize, I don't think there should be one unless it;s maybe a spotlight status or some shit, I dunno - just taking part in a successful and very improvised mapcore competition is reward enough, right guys? Right?
