lol @ 'not yet etc' - I updated the map pack - I'm not doing it again, the deadline has been reached, if you update your map tough shit.

If people agree to it I will upload any maps that have not yet been added but I'm not updating any already submitted maps.

Well, I didn't make the deadline (FUCKING LAME) But I am still going to release this map, because I like it a whole bunch.

Its a 4 hour LDR compile (obviously 8 hours for HDR)

In terms of lighting, should I make it at night, or keep it the way it is?

real nice, too bad you didn't get a 3d skybox on that as well. I'd say keep working on it.

I most definitely am going to have a sweet 3d skybox. It just needs to be PERFECT.

Wow. Looking good JeanPaul, too bad you missed the deadline.

If you ask me I'ld say keep it the way it is. The sun gives a quite nice bloom atm. n___n

On the other hand-- perhaps it would look nice with some spotlights lightning up the darkness if you recompiled with a skybox a la night? :F Don't really know but I think it looks nice anyhow.

Nice work JeanPaul, although I wish it had more color. Maybe make it at night with some orange spotlights, some red pointlights etc.?

Also the mapname is sort of an anagram of my name (Magnar J), whats up with that?

One thing I noticed from playing through all the maps is that people have been cramming lots of shit into a small space in the hope that it'll play well - the problem is that it doesn't. Lots of ladders and stairs and narrow corridors are not working for such a small space.

Anyway, has anyone decided on a voting system? We were talking about what they should be judged on during the playtest and came up with a few categories, to be marked out of 5.

Gameplay/Execution/Use of Space - how the game plays, the deisgn/flow, and how well they utilised the small space.

Visuals - How pretty it all is.

Theme/Design/Originality - The way the standard content was used to create something different to the other maps, the overall intricacies of the level.

Performance - how well it performed on your PC, this will obviously differ wildly, but if a map has a good performance rating on all types of systems then you know the mapper has done something good. Also some of the maps are just plain laggy.

Jamnagar is a place in India and it has a pretty sick refinery, so I picked that name so that it was original and would stand out.

Hmm... :\ noticed that myself, tested my own map together with a few friends of mine today as I had nothing better to do and tose elevators kind of bothers me. :\ I find myself having to wait to get to the next level from all the time. n___n

I'll send them an email and ask if they had me in mind when naming their city.

And Rick_D, how many players are you playing the maps with? Like I've said earlier, my map is recommended for 1vs1, 4 players max. Although with 4 players, it will be a constant hail of SMG fire (just like every other HL2DM map, oh dip)

coex is pretty fun with four players bouncing around and throwing phys stuff. One of the main problems is that is hl2dm is just no fun to play.

well the map pack I made was just to have all the bsp's in one place so people wouldn't waste time downloading them form the server (which is uber slow).

If you want I'm sure we can stick it on the server and see what happens. I'd love to take the top 5 or 6 maps and put them together as a kind of mapcore.net map-pack and release it on some sites, maybe you guys can get your maps played on some other servers. I know not many people like HL2DM but at least more people would play some of the better entires than just some lazy snobs on mapcore

But yeah, I'll put your map on the server but we won't be voting on it as the deadline has come and gone - same with anyone else I guess, jean paul and zeke maybe? We can always test them out and see how good/bad they are

We should just have regular mapcore deathmatch outings, so we can play each other's maps.
