No it's not a mod because you have to pay for it

It looks good, but I'm a tight-arse so I probably won't buy it

-
I don't think having to pay for it really has anything to do with its status as a mod. I mean, Day of Defeat: Source is just one example of an almost total conversion mod (some HL2 textures are probably used) that isn't free. Likewise, countless high-quality standalone games have appeared over the years that are completely free.

-
Well yeah - that's another thing, paying for it seems a bit low. I wouldn't mind if it was a total conversion and had brand new art (characters and weapons, sure nice fresh art there, but the thing you spend 90% of your time staring at are the levels), but to just use HL2 content and sell it on? I hope it's no more than say, Red Orchestra was, which was a fantastically refreshing outing of the game and to my knowledge didn't have very many assets from unreal tournament.
-
Ok so its not a mod, you know what I meant. The original "They Hunger" was a mod though right? I remember getting it off a PC gamer coverdisc. Or am I tripping?
-
that's right - lots of ppl liked it so now they must pay

I'm not too impressed with the promo images so far. Sure, the models look great, but the mapping part, the actual brushwork and overall design is dull and overly plain.

The shot above, for example, just doesn't do it for me. That might as well be taken from HL1. I don't see the floor textures working very well together either.

So unimpressed as a matter, it had to be stated twice just to prove the general displeasure of the imagery! I got to admit though that the shot there is pretty average.

-
Unfortunately I've got to agree about the barrel shot, probably that one should have been left out entirely till more work was done on it.
Also we're planning to replace more of the textures/add more props, but it's being left as low priority until everything else is finished - hopefully the trailer will give everyone a good impression of what the game'll actually be like

-
seems like the game is building up on a mass of nogoes - don't like it too much.

decent...
