    http://www.crazybump.com/beta/download.html

Amazing results, saves enormous amounts of time. You can load up any diffuse texture, pic, etc and get a great normal map in just a few clicks.

The program is beta for now, may have to be purchased in the future, but it's free right now

Crazybump is one of the best tools out there. Only thing that sucks is the interface.

    Oh you and your connections

Was this already in beta stage last year? It could mean development has stopped?

Nope, dev haven't stopped afaik. I registered for beta some time ago (a few months?) and he said if I had any errors etc. just report them to him.

no shit? this has been out for ages - although I never got my mail telling me if he released the full version, I am still using the beta

The interface is ok, big 'click here' buttons never hurt anybody. But I know what you mean, I hate interfaces that don't hide everything under a submenu within a submenu behind a small tree under a rock. So annoying.

yes it is still beta. once it is over you will notice it because it wont work anymore (if your computer is connected to the internet that is)

the guy is working on some handy improvements like saving out templates, properly overlaying and blending between normalmaps, performance and other stuff.

crazy bump is pretty cool . If you work the values right you can make some nice looking normal maps .

My two last levels have some normal maps made with Crazybump. Making quality maps with this tool is so easy and fast, a must have. I using it now to create height maps for a render.

A shame nobody of you cool guys mentioned this tool earlier...

I generated around 100 normal maps for Insurgency yesterday. Some will need tweaking but in general they look decent ingame. Far better then nvidia photoshop normal maps.

I like that this program has more intelligent allgorithms and that one has easy control of the details etc even in complicated textures. Also the preview window works great.

Never really found a need for it. But it does work pretty nice indeed especially with the nice various detail size sliders. Would have been neat as a PS plugin
