not necessarily tall buildings, maybe rolling hills with a barn n silo or small houses, etc. something to make you feel like the environment you are in is much larger than it looks.

what i've seen, nice maps usually have an ugly layout or it just feels unplayable.

    hope yours is different.

The current buildings are obviously too high for a little village near the silesian-bohemian border in the 40's.

    Does it really matter?

Concerning the 3d-Skybox: I'm working in Rick_D's way, so I usually finalize the map with the 3d skybox in my mind and on the paper, but not in the editor.

I always stick to the "Recipe", put in ingredient after ingredient and normally spice the map in the end.

Concerning the height of the buildings: well, I've been travelling a lot and visited many medieval towns all across europe. The height of those village buildings Nightingale features go hand in hand with what I've seen.

Medieval towns and villages of German origin almost everywhere feature high tudor buildings with sharp gables or saddle roofs, from france to romania.

    Gerberviertel in Colmar:

The "Kleine Ring" ("Little ring" ) in Hermannstadt:

I've also made some progress with the church tower detail, leaning towards Hessi's paintover:

I'm still working on that part, though.

    Cheers,

    Albatros

    Now that would be sweet.

The scale of my 3d-skybox is at 1:16 though. Is the bell correctly sized for that?

    Thanks & see you later

i dont think so, but you could decompile it and then rescale in the qc file. i dont have the sources anyway so i would recommend you to properly recompile.

Still working on it - I've got a whole lot of work and my head's buzzing a bit right now, but I'm making quite some progress.

Hopefully I'll have all my DoD projects wrapped up until the end of June so I can start through with something very different I've been asked to do.

Comments & suggestions would be fine as usual .

i vote that the little window fence in the second shot should be either a model or two brushes with the bottom brush being thinner y'know.

But the rest of the map is looking wonderful.

Regarding the bell, you can also try the one made for Inferno by Turtle Rock

This map is probably going to be a good candidate for Victory in Europe campaign battles ( http://www.victoryineurope.net ), to be played in an organized competitive environment.
