well, custom assets would be difficult, it would be more of "who-has-the-best-skills-to-find-or-create-custom-shit"

except offcourse if the custom assets where given.

i think i could have come up with something more original, but i didnt. anyway, its uploaded now, i find that it plays oke, everything where you can go is within the 1024 mapspace.

Not bad, it lacks a cool 3d sky though.

I like that idea - maybe a few of us should get together and make a small pack of textures and models and see who can do the most creative stuff with it?

Done some small updates on my map, haven't had so much time to work this last week, but I'll release it however it may look and however the gameplay might be as the deadline comes. But I'm quite sure the days left are enough to get the few things I'm going to do done.

neat architecture. i'd say throw on some trims to the arches to really accent them.

    Nice screens Gorion and Kakburk

But bad news from me, I dont think I can finish my map before the deadline cause I'm going on vacancy (<- not sure about the spelling) and I'm back next thuesday so...errr...

Maybe I can finish the map tomorrw before i'm leaving, but it's gonna be really badly finished

I give it a try anyway..

Yes give it a try. I hope you'll be able to get it finished. Your map looks very interesting!

or make it 'team-contest'. get a team (4th ppl) and make a 1024x map with custom content.

Used to use Maya and Cinema4D alot some years ago, but stopped for some reason, and haven't bothered learning XSI. :\ Perhaps it could be worth to pick it up again and create some custom content. :F It's indeed nice to have some non-hl2ish material to work with sometimes. ^^

Great stuff people made here. I did one to but never read the clause that said no custom assets, I just read the 1024 topic and the date... Since I must use custom assets I had to skip this one, but I'm gonna see about releasing it as a "real" map instead... Hope sometimes for a new contest that allows custom assets...

Yeah the maps people made here looks really good, but the question now will be: how do they play?

Even though I'm not entering the contest, I have a HL2DM map that is almost ready for release. I might be able to throw it in at the playtest...

I haven't set up the railings yet, and I am still not done with the walkways, but here is my progress. (Oh and I am not even CLOSE to done with piping)

Topic of discussion: should I make this map at night with loads of spotlights and some dramatic lighting, or should I have it be lit by one light_env during the day?
