I don't think many people seriously think all Americans are thick. Apart from people who are actually stupid, it's fairly obvious a small selection of people in one video doesn't represent the whole country and we can enjoy it with that in mind.
It's not like I'm watching the video and thinking "lol all those Americans are stupid". I'm laughing at the stupid answers from stupid people.

It's just a funny video. It is perhaps a little tasteless that they specifically named it after the supposed stupidity of Americans, but it is primarily a video of really stupid people. They just happen to live in America.
... although I don't think I've ever encountered someone who would seriously point to Australia and think it was North Korea or Iran, or pretty much any of the other stupid answers in that video.
