no no, you're confused. Voting for an fundamentalist "christian" with ties to various shady companies and corporate dealings who routinely lies to the public while undermining the very rights and freedoms our forefathers fought for - that destroys our republic.
Bush is the worst possible answer for our country at this time. Kerry isn't a whole hell of a lot better, but at least he's a change of pace that might be what we need. I wanted Dean, personally.
Bush and his compatriots have turned our freedoms and rights into dumb bumperstickers devoid of meaning and soul. The same people that shout about freedom and other flag waving mindless bullshit are the same people that think it's a-ok if we lose a bit of said freedom for the illusion of safety. Probably the same folks that are genuinely comforted by the floatation device/seat cushion on airplanes.

This country was founded on the rights of white businessmen to make money. That is the purpose of the Constitution. So if you feel like George Bush is this evil idiot stooge of the special interests, he is! Our government has ALWAYS been the stooge of industry. It was designed from the beginning to be that way. Bush just happens to be in a particularly unusual spot because the public is starting to wake up to it and Sept 11 was really, really shitty. The only reason the public is waking up to it is because of parity in communication caused mainly by the Internet.

i had a great time.
after we were seated these 2 guys came on the stage and played this 10 minute movie about NYC....that was ok. then they introduced mike bloomberg (nyc mayor) and the whole place went nuts with applause and screaming. i was in the second row. needless to say, super cool. he was up there for about 15 minutes explaining how democrats are trying to restrict freedom of speech by forcing their views on others with violent protest, etc, etc.
they hired this motivational speaker to come and show us how to talk to the people that we meet and stuff. if i remember correctly it was
(this was basically the bulk of the training)
1. greet - basically how to shake hands, maintain eye contact
2. discover - ask them about stuff
3. (something to do with creating coversation) - cant remember
4. maintain- even if the person is a bitch or is having a bad day, dont let it get you down
it was mostly all about personal relations. apparently most people see people from NYC as hardasses. (its true though....nyc lost the graffiti on the trains and the garbage/bums.....but everyone is still an asshole)
they took our picture for our id's and got our shirt size for our shirts. i havent recieved my job yet but its most likely going to be something with computers (since i put that as my preference and checked that i would be free almost all afternoons for the rest of august). the standard job though is more along the lines of greeting the actual delegates, accommodation...the chances of actually being on the madison square garden floor are pretty slim, but its definitely an experience. (oh yea, lots of hot manhattan republican chicks too, bst evr)
as a funny side note, while switching trains on my way home, some guy handed me a packet of papers....usually i just ignore them but i took it anyway. i opened it up and it says "shut it down" and the U is an upside down elephant (republican symbol thing). its basically all about how you can help disrupt the convention...if i have some free time after dinner ill scan it in, its pretty funny.
edit: oh and izuno, the security was NUTS....im pretty sure it was only cause the mayor was there though....not for us common folk
