Game soundtracks

    Hessi: I don't think you are hurting anybody by downloading those STs... they arent even available at stores so....

    Some of them certainly are, so it's definitely an illegal list. Whether or not you find it ethical to download soundtracks from games you own is your choice.

    Jesper Kyd is the Man, and yea, Mercenaries is a great soundtrack like the Hitman OST's which I bought as well.

    I've downloaded the whole shadow of the colossus soundtrack, i'm a terrorist

    And on an ethic view, buying music from a game you already bought ( and in consequence the music going with it ) is complete bullshit, and in my opinion, just a pretext for the publisher to make money on the fanboys back. But i say that, i say nothing ..

    Only games I've got physical soundtracks for come bundled with obscure Japanese games, unless it's games that have real music like GTA it's a pain in the ass to get an OST over here.

    And i was wondering something, if a soundtrack cd from a game is made, by who the money is taken ? the publisher, the devloppement studio ? And does the musician got royalities on the sells ?

    I very very much doubt the actual musicians see a penny of royalty money. My friend of mine has created soundtracks for games for years across many developers and he's never had a penny in royalties. I gues if you are a famous enough composer it could be possible, but for the rank and file sound designers it sure ain't happening.

    Why is every one so hanguped on money all the time. How about the joy people get from listening to nice music? If i was able i would record tons of songs to make the world a happier place.

    yeah spelly I agree with you. I hate when people are like "OMG ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS!!". Screw it, its not going to hurt anybody if you download a soundtrack.
