I'm happy with my Wii purchase. I won't be buying a ps3 until there are some decent games for it, like MGS or FF. Plus, paying $599 isn't a attractive price for me at the moment.

I won't buy a PS3 until it's price drops below.... I won't buy a PS3 until some good games.... You know what, I'm just not going to get a PS3.

I enjoy my 360 but I'm going to buy a Wii for my girl.

All Sony hate aside, I would have expected them to close the gap a bit more early on - it's not unreasonable to think that a year after the 360 launch you'd see a few months of the PS3 ahead in monthly sales as some people with 360s buy PS3s to add to their collection and the initial Sony crowd gets their units. They have a lot of catching up to do with the 360s head start alone, and if that gap is widening already, there's trouble.

The Wii really is in its own category right now. It's great to see that the excitement is keeping up; that's been the biggest question about the platform so far... if they can keep this up through whenever they can get Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros, and other major franchises out the gate, I think they're going to have an absolutely stellar run.

Its rather odd here in Europe. Quite a lot of retailers are saying that the PS3 is being preordered faster than any console yet, which is surprising enough in itself given the price point. Even more wierd though, is that some of these retailers (Amazon and Play.com, particularly) are only taking preorders up until they've filled their launch allocation, after which they are closing them off. These sites have now been taking preorders for about a week - surely if they are selling preorders as quickly as they claim, they can't STILL have more left in their launch allocation? I know Sony have promised a lot of stock for the EU launch, but it seems a little suspect. I don't think it was anything like this easy to get a guaranteed Wii or 360 at launch during their preorder campaigns, so if the PS3 is selling even quicker than those did, Sony must have corrected those production issues and then some!

Yeah, Amazon.co.uk sold out both their batch's of pre-order Wii's in under 10mins each time.

I can order a PS3 right now on there if I want to. So either they have a lot more than the Wii's or somethings afoot.

And I just received the one I pre-ordered on november.

In fact, not this one, because I had a bunch of luck, I found one in a shop (the only one in fact) just 10 min after the opening.. so i canceled my preorder.

Wii is Nintendo's iPod - so said. Though the comparsion may be not entirely correct: Wii is innovative while the iPod isn't...

I got the same thing going into a Gamestop the other day. The guy made a comment about whether I had any next gen consoles, and I said I had a Wii. He then asked if I was interested in getting my hands on a PS3, to which I said no. He then said that I should get it now while they had a few in stock because they were selling like hotcakes. Of course then I could go across the street to Target or Walmart and see 3 or 4 at each store, or go to the Best Buy next to work that has had a stack of over a dozen just sitting there in the wide open for a month now. PS3's might be selling, but they're selling at a rate less than the stocking rate. Wiis on the other hand are always gone within hours of a shipment getting in, and the shipment sizes are much larger and faster than Sony. It's the Sega Saturn all over again.

The Wii however can't live forever on minigames, can it? I think it's long term success is going to be highly dependant on if there are solid games coming with more than just innovative controls.

The times I've played on the Wii have been great fun and I'm fully intent on picking one up for good times with mates, but I see pretty much zero potential for it to become my "favourite" of the new systems. Zacker's point is one that I find very hard to overlook, and Furyo, that list (nor the "Eye on 2007: Wii" article at Eurogamer) does nothing puts those fears to rest. There are simply so few games I have any interest in whatsoever on the Wii. The control system might be genius, but it is lacking games with depth terribly.

Will be interesting to see how badly that hits it though - the DS is selling brilliantly on the back of mostly novelty titles, after all. On the other hand, it also has plenty of deeper titles for those that want them.

Aside from Mario and Metroid, which are both rumoured as Xmas '07 /Q1 '08 there's really not a great deal of excitement in that list. But then I don't want to pay £425 for a PS3 just to play MGS4/DMC4 either. Think I'll stick with the 360 & PC.

My housemate literally stole my Wii and played Zelda non-stop for a few weeks. So I'm not getting back into it where I left off (Water Temple) and I can imagine a few people would be doing the same.

That said, Wii Sports is still damn fun for when you want to just play something.

I only really play the wii if i have friends to play it with . Other than that it gets kinda boring. : /
