    Limited Resources - Competition #1

Yeah, we have done a couple of these, and only a few have succeeded, but I dont give a fuck, we are going to do another one, and this time there will be limitations to what you can do so that we can keep it nice and simple.

The object of the competition is to create the most realistic and beautiful Hammer created scene as possible. But there's a catch, you can only use one, thats right, one light as the entire illumination for the whole scene.

    Rules:

-There can only be one "light" entity per scene.

-The light may have any setting modifications (Constant, brightness, color)

    -No light_enviroments

    -No Light_spot's

-No custom content, only CSS and HL2 content is allowed.

-No limit to amount of brushwork or lightblock brushwork

    -Lightmap 1 recommended

-Be creative and lets see the lighting masters excel

-When posting the final submission, you must include the VMF and BSP along with the posted screenshot, or else your screenshot will be void in the final choosing of the winners.

I am willing to put up some money for the competition winner, along with some other free prizes for those who didnt get first place.

The deadline will be around a month from now, so get mapping.

Post over at HL2World if you are going to enter.

All submissions should go in the thread over at HL2World, email me if you have questions.

If you want to see the "lighting masters" excel, you should open up for more lights. One light only will be pretty boring is my bet.

You're looking for some pedantic workaround there aren't you Hessi - the point of this contest, though rather questionable IMO, is clearly to make a level with only one light source

Not an entire map, just one screenshot.

No environmental lighting, no light spots, no texture lighting - just one light?

guess that means an indoor scene? (noob speaking here )

-No custom content, only CSS and HL2 content is allowed.

    no DoDS content allowed?

One light is a great idea, but why nullify spotlights, environment lights, and texture lights? They're still lights, and force someone to make a choice about the tradeoff between the advantages of, say, an omnidirectional light vs. a directed light.

Why nullify? Because this is the competition where you have to use only one light, that being "light"-entity".

That's why. It's just a simple rule, for fun.

    Sure, why not.

These are the competition rules, like them or not, ONLY ONE LIGHT

can cheat easy by using a brick texture as a texturelight to find it, they would have to recompile the map with the default rad file

Why not a envoirement light (using it instead of the 1 normal light),

Place a light as a sun with a high value should give almost thhe same effect anyway
