if you want to get started learning Unreal Engine 3 scripting using RoboBlitz my friend ArcadiaVincennes has created some detailed tutorials on how to use Kismet.

Cool, I will be looking into Unreal 3 soon. Don't know how far I will dive in but we shall see..... O and did they make ctrl+s save yet? If not it's a possibility I won't use the program

-
Kismet takes all of 5 minutes to understand and begin using.

-
Kismet seems to be a very nice tool, judging from that tutorial. A little more advanced compared to what I am used to, but that is only good. It reminds me a lot of scripting in Virtools, which was very intuitive.
-
yeah its pretty cool . A bit difficult to look at at first but after a bit it gets easier
-
took me about a week to learn the fundamentals, coming from a non-level design background. Now I can create some pretty wicked stuff in kismet

-
Kismet is cool, this is how scripting should be done instead of weird LUA in frickin notepad
My three UE3 tutorials:
Basic introduction to the new material editor plus some of the most used materials as examples
- http://help.hourences.com/tutorialsue3mover.htm
How to make an elevator and a simple loopmover + kismet basics
- http://help.hourences.com/tutorialsue3lightmap.htm
How to prepare a mesh to be lightmapped in the engine.
-
Hey LUA is kickass too, that hardly takes any time to learn either.
-
ah now i need to get roboblitz for the editor to start learning this stuff.. esp if more tutorials are comin out.
-
What does it do?

Quote from Sindwiller
Still more hassle though and well...so last gen

You learn LUA one time, you learn LUA for all times
There are various other projects (including game engines) who use LUA for scripting.Including Cryengine, but scripting tools like Kismet and Cryengine 2's "flowgraph" are much more designer friendly than editing text files, it is much more "visual"
From making AI go from point A to point B to more complicated sequences and game logic. I even think programmers will start to appreciate such tools soon as well
-
Yeah we have also switched from text based scripting to visual based scripting at IO.
-
a proper Gui for scripting ... i have been crying for something like that ... since ... like forever ! =) i hope its as easy to use and intuitive as it looks =)
