keep an eye out for me on the friday news (uk) i'll be playing america's ten most wanted and maybe answering some BS question on manhunt...that will be a giggle they asked me as i was playing and i stuttered like hell =D but all good fun

There was some news report on some site, I'm too lazy to dig up my irc logs but it mentioned parents "dropping off" (more like ditching) their children at "overnight gaming centers" (they can't even call em by the correct name), where the kids as young as 12 play violent video games. Of course they brought up the murder this topic is about.
This proves it. It's completely bad parenting, or the person who wrote the article is a complete dumbass. You can't say parents are the ones responsible for their kids playing the games, then say the game's responsible for what the kids do.
Games don't kill people, bad parenting does.

agreed
but it does'nt stop the press =( more crap in the papers today about this guy trying to ban doom3 and all violent games
the shops should not take the games of the shelfs its really stupid
i know this will all end in a week or 2 but gah it drives me nuts there making it worse by bringing it up in the first place

The story of the “Manhunt” murder case took another twist with the revelation that the game was present in the victim’s home, not the killer’s.
wow the press put there foot in it this time LWEL!
-
ha fucking ha
-
The discussions in the media about violent games in relation to murder cases become more and more ridiculous, they just need something to write and people believe it.

Taking the games off store shelves would only hurt the developers publishers whoever (the people your $50 go to). If you really really want a game, but can't find it, are you just going to give up? No, you're going to download it. You still have the game that'll make you kill people at your school, and the people who would be getting your $50 don't get a single cent, (that is until they find out that the person didnt legally own the software, so they search the computer for more pirated games and then sue the parents of the suicidal murderer).

i give it a b+

It has Urban in it, that degrades it to a D, but then upgrades it back to an A

anyone see me on tv yet =D i look the sex lol they cut out are manhunt bit but i don't blame them
-
i guess i'll just say the obvious here:
the people who want to blame video games for that kid's murder, for columbine, etc aren't really interested in "saving the children" or doing good for society. the lawyers who are trying to "destroy Rockstar Games" aren't trying to make society better. all those people are in it for their own greed (especially the lawyers). see, what we all know but don't say is that those people are simply looking for an "out"...it's easier to blame video games and demonize developers/publishers/esrb than to swallow the fact that some people are just screwed up. some people get physically, sexually, mentally, and emotionally abused as children, and that screws them up for life. in a rare instance, those abuse victims go crazy and go on killing sprees in places like Littleton, Colorado or they stab a kid at school in England. it totally sucks and no one wins. but because western legal systems tend to award lots of money for loss and pain and suffering caused by such events, greedy, sleazy people try to take advantage. like that laywer trying to take down RockStar over this killing in England. Only someone who has been an abulance chaser all his life would say he's going to "destroy Rockstar games"...plz.
it says something about western culture (mainly capitalistic culture)...the cost of the wonderful freedom (more or less) we enjoy in western societies (as opposed to living under a dictator, a fascist or extremist regime, or Communism) is that members of such free societies are free to try to exploit any angle they can find to make money. i'm not saying it is frivolous to sue rockstar necc, but it reminds me of people who commit insurance fraud or pretend to slip on something in the supermarket and then sue everyone about it. it's like these people sit around and wait for a reason to sue just so they don't have to take responsibility for their lack of success or happiness.
so back to the topic, wanting to ban video games and destroy rockstar and etc all comes from people with deep seeded issues that keep themselves from being happy and successful. rather than take responsibility for their lives they simply blame anything they think they have a chance at profiting from. it's one of the nasty sides of capitalism and western culture, particularly american culture, that we have to live with to enjoy the otherwise great freedom we have.

Izuno: correct... couple of days ago.. some kid died near me... cause the parents left her unattended at a playground... the kid basicly hung herself on some rope netting... and the first things the grandma said to the media was blame the netting of the playground not the fact that the kid was unattended to for so long.. this artical was the only one i could find on it.. i heard it on the radio the other day...
-
Very true Izuno.
