The 1st game to use Ue3 came out on steam 2 days ago, RoboBlitz. The game is an OK puzzler, however a full version of the Ue3 editor is shipped with the game. If you interested in playing with it, head over to steam and check it out for 14.99

be good to learn the editor now, before Ut2007 comes out

Can you post up some screenshots? How's it compare to UED2?

I'd rather wait for UT2007 so there is something worth using with it. But if its sweet to use with thats games resources let me know the details.

You've gotta' give them credits for using procedural textures on a next generation game.

Consider that the game lives in a 50mb footprint for XBLA support, and I'm impressed

People always seem to expect that budget games look as cool as tripple A games. They are budget games people, they are not suppose to blow everything away.

I think the editor deal is going to land them perhaps even tens of thousands of extra sales purely for the editor so that was a smart step to take of them.

Planning on releasing beginners tuts for it next week or so.

I agree with you Hourences, this release of RoboBlitz can only produce sales to get people looking to get a head start on the editor before UT2007 comes out. I'm going to start working on some tutorials too, maybe we should work together

RoboBlitz is a modified editor and everything that you can do in UE3 you can do in this editor. Only downside is that i cannot play a simple BSP level without the editor freezing. Not sure if anyone else gets this problem.

Its definately worth the 14.99 for the editor, if you want to get a jump start on learning

Ofcourse you dont get the commercial rights and also not the source code. Just like you dont get the Quake 4 source code either if you buy the game. You do get the game and the editor and you can mod the engine like that.

When UE4 comes out Im going to license it for a low budget game and then the next day sell the package for 10 dollar each as a "dev kit". Itll prolly be proffitable after a week already because so many people want to check out the new engine

Lee3dee perhaps, I got a friend who might also want to join in.

Where would you host it ?

nono, UT2004 ued is UED3. Notice the D. the D is important. Without D it becomes UE3 which is a whole other thing.

Another thing lots of people do wrong is describe it as the U3 engine. How can a game (unreal 3) that doesnt exist yet possibly have an engine?

Afaik, because it is indeed confusing, they simply dropped the editor version in UE3. Its just called "the editor" now, without a clear number in the name.

I downloaded this the other day and it actually wasn't too bad of a game but to be honest they didn't seem to make the most of the engine because it felt like it could have been a really polished UT2004 mod. I'm sort of toying with the idea of buying it to check out the editor but I'd hate to get it and then find that like a lot of the functionality is limited or broken compared to like UED3 or D3edit, WorldEdit, Hammer, etc. which are all fully featured.

Hourences: i need to get a new hosting this month, so i can host it when i make the switch, or u can, im good either way. I started writing a cascade tutorial today (particle tool) since i've been learning it for a 3 weeks now. hehe.

oh, if any of you downloaded the game and cannot run your level, this is why

Add "RBArena" to the front of the filename of your map, is needed to spawn the robot in the level

I just arranged new hosting for myself too which is suppose to carry my new tutorial site. It has a pretty Hourences'ish look so it might not be the best to host other peoples tutorials on since itll make your work look like mine.

We could technically team up with 3-4 people and make a Beyondunreal editor site, such site should be pretty easy to get arranged.

We could also just make a type of editor ring. We all keep our own sites but we try not to write tutorials the other one has and we link through to the other 3-4 sites all the time so you kinda suplement each other while staying independent.

A while ago I had already started several tuts including a moving meshes tutorial and a mat editor example tutorial.

    yep, i downloaded it.

The editor is very similar to our build, everything works as it should. The particle tool, material editor work the same. Kismet is a little different. They added alot of custom events and actions.

I created a material at work to simulate rain dripping down a brickwall. I recreated the same material in the RoboBlitz editor, and the only different was that the normal map didn't see as strong on the wall. The dynamic lighting didn't see as strong.

for 14.95 its a good deal to play with the editor Just don't buy it from steam, otherwise you have to open steam everytime
