    PVK_FORT

    by: Skjalg

    buildtime: aprox 4 months total.

First off, I'd like to thank this community for guiding me in the right direction on this one. Especially von*ferret, Minoz, Phill~ and insta!

The map is Team Deathmatch. Almost 100% custom.

It finally has HDR, and I've even taken the liberty of adding my own soundscape which really helped set the atmosphere. You can all play this baby once PVK2 is release (sometime very very soon).

Now over to the pictures, I really hope you like them. The torches might look a tad yellow, but I assure you it looks nice once you're ingame.

If there is something you don't like, please let me know either on IRC, mail or here and i might change it, but as it stands now; this is the final version.

Very nice work. I like the contrast of the lighting, the switch between very bright and dark. Nice texturing and props. I would change the intensity of those torchs, but that's ok. The third pic looks a bit empty. Everything else looks nice!

    lurrrrvvveeeely.

The building on the right of the first pic looks verymuch out of place, its the brick/stone texture you have used tbh.. If it were a darker texture like the rest (not pink) it would look a lot better imho.

Thanks guys, yea the third picture looks a little empty, but alongside the courtyard its where most of the battle is going on, and tripping over props became troublesome.

If you mean the architecture could use more work, then I have to put my foot down

looks like a nice map for the mod. maybe you should have added some more plants in the exteriours!

anyway, nice work and good lighting!

You really improved the map a lot from the first time seeing it, superb work! Only thing to bother you are those torches, they're a bit too strong aren't they? The last shot could've use some more color instead of all that grey.

Anyway, awesome work, really surprised me

Great work indeed, but like hessi said could use some more vegetation. I also agree on the torches being to bright.

    What an improvement!

Good job Skjalg, the final version looks really good. Most castle maps tend to look bland or noob'ish but you managed to make a top notch one.

Thanks dude, Im glad i surprised you, I agree the first 167 versions of the map didnt really hold up, but those were mostly to just nail the gameplay about the torches; yeah they do, but its the HDR, trust me

Maybe later one day I'll make those fences wood so its not all grey.

I might also add some vegitation on some later point, but it all has to be modeled first so I don't know if that will happen before the first release

    Good work

My critisism lies in the lighting. I don't think HDR does well for your map with the current lighing settings you have now. It looks a bit messy and unrealistic. Otherwise I think you did a A+ job on the architecture.

Very nice work, I'm really digging the theme obviously well done, and the textures look great. I like the lighting except some of the over bloom in the HDR. If you don't mind telling me what bloom scale did you use? cause you may have to lower that. Mine is pretty small on my source maps so I don't get that crazy huge blown out effect.

Edit: I mean for the most part it looks good just a few small area it looks a little over blown.

    Skjalg -

I'm proud of you. You really improved the map's overall look and now it looks fantastic. I can't wait to play the new PVK, my friend just bought HL2 just for PVK so you guys might want to deliver it as promised!

atrocity, i just used the default one, Most people that play multiplayer don't really use it anyways, so I haven't really paid that much attention to it.

skdr, thank you so very much I can promise you that we'll deliver, I think that pvk2 is already much more fun than pvk1, and thats with just one class on each team (Much to do with the physics:))
