You have reached the final boss!!!

To fight boss with sock full of coins, press X.

To fight boss using plasma rifle, insert credit card number.

Sometimes I wonder if Sony is actively trying to go from first to last.

    Let's do the math:# 750 cars for $0.50-$1.00 (Sony will round-up, don't you think?)

    # 50 tracks for $1.50-$4.50

A complete copy of the game will cost gamers somewhere between $426.50 and $975, and that's without factoring in whatever Sony decides to charge for the menus (since that's all you'll get with GT HD: Classic).

    Next gen ftw!!11

I think I'll stick with my PC and PS2 for now.

All they're achieving by this is scaring away the people that arent mad GT fans. It's a really sad move that we're beginning to have games released that are totally useless out of the box and you have to coin it up to play it, like an arcade machine.

Now, if it shipped with say 100 cars and 15 tracks it'd be way more fair, then I'd quite like the fact that purchasing a new car in the game actually felt a bit like an investment as opposed to just being the fake money ingame.

Besides, the next gen GT stuff I've seen so far has been pretty pathedic, but I donno if thats just GT4 HD or whatever :G

Another reason not to support Sony in any way shape or form. And having just finished God of War again, I just wish they'd stick to game development now....

My word, what a silly idea. Good thing we have Forza to provide us with our realistic, car collecting, racing thrills without paying through our teeth.

I'm all for premium bonus packs a la Project Gotham Racing (though I felt they were more worthwhile back in PGR2 when they came with cities as well as just cars) in a racing game, but I don't want to buy ALL the game content seperate from the game. I wonder how much the actual base game is gonna cost - surely its budget with all those necessary additional costs bundled on top?

    Sounds like a crap idea.

A: I don't want to shell out large slices of cash to play a game.

B: I don't want the hassle of shopping, either.

It sucks that shitty implementations like this can ruin the entire business model for those that actually understand how to do it reasonably. Free content is great, but if it takes a few bucks to get quality content added to a quality game, I'm willing to drop a little cash here and there for it. But don't give me a goddamn empty box and expect me to fill in the blanks with my wallet.

I suppose if the game cost $5 for the disk and then you spend additional money to get the custom game you want, in theory you could get a full game of fair value for say $40 to $60 bucks. In theory this allows gamers to "customize the game they exactly want"....however....

    1) Will the no cars SKU cost $60? $50? $40? ... $10? $5? How much will the Premium SKU cost? $60 ... $5? Will it cost $70? Sony: Explain yourself!

    2) I doubt Sony would be stupid enough to sell a game for $60 with no content (Please do not prove me wrong, Sony. Please.) Who's going to buy it? So then is the game $30? $20? I think gamers will do the math and most people will conclude the value proposition is garbage.

Therefore I assume somebody in Sony marketing knows what they're doing and this should get straightened out. Right? Right???

Or maybe they are really expecting all of us to bend over.

Perhaps the game comes with 0 cars and 0 courses, but allows you to download up to a value of $40 or whatever worth of content for free (after which you have to pay for them). Seems like a more feasible approach than simply selling the Blu-Ray distributed game for $5-10.

BF2 didn't really do this. They had expansion packs in which you could get newer guns. Didn't require you to buy it to win the game.

Nonsense! When you take it out of the box it makes a wonderful coaster for your soft drink as you play Mario Galaxies or COD3.

BF2's first expansion pack let you use the new guns in the original game, though. It was essentially an electronic "keeping up with the Joneses" move because certain Special Forces weapons were useful to have. They're not better across the board, but someone with the SF weapons has more choice and has a decent advantage over the people without those weapons.

IMO they fucked over the existing BF2 owners by doing this.

THe guns did not hold a great advantage over vanilla bf2 players however. So buying the new expansion pack did not give you leverage in a standard game. The expansion did however give you access to new maps and new kind of gameplay. It was just a nice feature that the guns could cross over. however my main point is that since the guns give you no major advantage and are not needed to progress, they're different fundamentaly then the microtransaction stuff.

I think the boosterpacks for BF2 were excellent value for what you paid. They cost what? $10? With armored fury you get 3 new maps, some of the best ones, plus some new vehicles. Considering how much fun I had with it, and how much it rejuvenated BF2 for me then I see no reason to complain.

BF2 shipped as a complete game, this doesn’t. I think it’s totally okay to have these kinds of things as long as it doesn’t feel like it's something that ought to be in the game to begin with.

    I disagree.

The sniper rifle was (allegedly) identical to the M25 + had a faster reload. I could swear it also seems more accurate, though. The L96 gives you the chance to have a US style sniper rifle on any of the teams. It can't shoot through glass, but even then that's a fairly useless feature unless you're camping chopper spawns.

Assault kit got flashbangs (always fun being blinded by a weapon you don't have access to)

Engineer got the MP7 (all other engy guns were shotguns, so again it's adding an option you didn't already have. I don't much care for it though)

The G36-E for the medic kit is a brilliant gun and far better than the AK & M16 for range work. I don't use it on some maps (AK-101 is the best infantry combat gun when in close) but it is a great gun to have for many maps (or indeed playing in certain places even on cqb maps). The G36-E is easily the best SF unlock and it's probably one of the all-round strongest in the entire game.

The MG36, P95 and SCAR-L are all OK but no great shakes. I still think the unlocks are fucking lame. The boosters were decent value, but the moment developers start letting you use expansion pack content in the original game, I am dead against it. Why? Because if people tolerate it, then it's only going to get worse (and possibly even see the introduction of purchasing equipment/weapons as a standalone pack to use in the original game).

It's not too far fetched to me. Racing against someone in GT when they have bought better cars than you (probably going to happen!). Having predator boots in FIFA online that let you hit harder, more accurate shots etc.

I'm sure EA et al don't need a second invitation to try this stuff out.. I always prefer a level playing field where possible.
