Zaphod's new web project: devbump

    I have always been interested in internet communities, and in particular - community generated content. Hence the reason I was a part of mapcore, and hence the reason for a new project of mine and my brother, http://www.devbump.com

    devbump is a clone of the popular "digg" method of posting news, information, any any interesting things on the web in general. However, in contrast to digg, devbump is all about sharing articles of information that are of interest and use to us game developers.

    Here is the way it works;

    1. any tom dick or harry finds something neat and interesting on the web related to game development.

    2. tom dick or harry submits the story to devbump, the story shows up in the "qeued stories" http://gravatar.com/ for avatars, so just use the same email address for both and your avatar should show up, though it can take awhile for the gravatar people to rate your icon and the have it start showing up.

    Yeah, please ignore any odd colors or text formatting errors. The bitch of a css file is being tweaked whenever I have the time. Also the javascript sneak/spy seems to work in some browsers on some machines, but not in the same browser on a different machine, so I still have to sort that out.

    At the moment it takes 5 bumps for a story to get published, so they should start appearing on the front page soon...

    Commenting is broken or is it just me that the comment arranging is wierd?

    I think it arranges it backwards to how we are used to the forums maybe? it might also take the comment rating into account

    Looks to be sorted by Rating, then Time Posted, with replies nested to their parent comments.

    once we get a front page full of stories and we finalize the css and make sure everything is working in all browsers then I am going to go on a campaign to corral more users from other communities. Had to give mapcore the first shot at it though!

    ))))))~

    Make the big bumps number go to the comments page though. I'm used to doing that on digg.

    Seems to work fine in IE6, and displays almost the same as it does in Firefox. Same for Opera.
