Ah, the old PC and Console arguments are sprouting up.

    • [*:22fenajh]Most console games, when ported to the PC platform suck ass, and by the same token most PC games converted to a console platform suck ass.
[*:22fenajh]PC and Console games typically handle completely different genres. I’m not going to play a RTS on a console, and I’m sure as hell not going to play something like DMC on a PC.

Given this, I don’t know why these arguments are so common. If the game is coming out on both platforms, get the platform it’s the most fun to play it on. If you think consoles are the spawn of Satan then there is no helping you.

The argument that it will look better put through your top of the range PC doesn’t make up for the gameplay lost. And I find it funny this is usually followed up with “so I can’t justify the cost.” You’ve looked through all the options and brought a top end PC. Money is, presumably, no object.

I brought Silent Hill 2 for the PC after playing on the PS2, I figured with the improved graphics it would just be Silent Hill 2++; But no, it was shit. The only conceivable way I could control the character as well as on the PS2 would be plugging a replica joypad. Not to mention they bundled in some quicksave option. Why, exactly? Oh noes, I’m scared, best hit F5 and run around carefree. What a great feature for a game based around tension.

I’ve also played Command and Conquer: Red Alert on the Playstation and PC. I think you can sum up my opinion based on my experiences with both, with the acronym: LOL.

and my video card just died. noooooooo...

not that I wouldn't have had to upgrade everything else to play it anyway. 6 months. then i will do everything all over again. DX10 hardware will be out then too. gotta think Crysis at the same time.

I'm hanging off upgrading my PC until the DX10 cards hit - now just seems a bad time to invest in a top of the line PC setup when, by the way people seem to hype it, DX10 (together with Vista) is gonna change everything.

And Taylor, you are a wise man. If only everybody could see it that way. It's not a competition, nor does it have to be mutually exclusive. PC's and consoles compliment each other perfectly by covering totally different ground, and the ground thats shared, well go with your preference. PC vs. Console arguments are pretty much as useless as MS vs. Sony vs. Nintendo arguments.

I bought a 360 mainly to play Gear of War and Oblivion. Unfortunately, i have only picked up GRAW so far. With all the PS3 shortages that you know will happen when its released, consumers will start looking to the next best system, the xb360 or Wii with games that look amazing.

Having seen GoW in person a few months ago, I will be pre-ordering the collectors edition .

I'd buy more collector's editions if they didn't put them in shit boxes. I find all these carboard/tin/whatever "special" boxes nothing but an annoyance - they look out of place amongst the standard boxes and don't fit in DVD racks properly a lot of the time. I had the option of buying PDZ in regular or special editions for exactly the same price and vouched for the standard edition, simply because it used the normal box style.

Or if they were worth buying. Mostly I get them just for the dvd convenience, otherwise i've never purchased a special edition that was actually worth it (excluding Warcraft III) and I've picked up quite a few.

Looks pretty cool...but somehow it reminds me a lot of killswitch...though I know it's not the same game. Any other good trailers handy? Just want to see more gameplay besides shooting from cover.

Watched the video, killswitch is a horrible game, so bad it made me cry

Hopefully Gears of War will be a great game!

Did you watch the linked video? It compares footage from GoW with scenes from Killswitch!

NormySan, why did you find killswitch so bad? Granted, it wasn't a fabulous game or anything, but it had some really nicely done firefights in places I thought. My biggest disappointment with it was the length - I figured I was just getting into the game when suddenly the end credits started rolling If GoW plays similar to killswitch, but more intense and stylish, then I think I'll be fairly pleased with it

Hah I remember a guy from work playing that ages ago, had no idea it was Killswitch. Looked horrible back then as well

Anyway, regarding ripping off then I think its kinda silly. I mean cover mechanics arent really that special anymore, and although Killswitch might and probably have inspired Epic in many ways, then they're definitely refining it to the extreme, and putting together what seems like a really solid system for interacting with the world.

that was killswitch on the ps2. It looked and played alot better on the xbox. The cover in GoW definately fits the game. I have to pre-order that collectors edition asap!

heh, I joined the kill.switch team when they were making the next game using the cover mechanic. A couple of the guys have told me that Gears is pretty much the game they *wanted* k.s to be. tech, budget, and time do wonders for presentation

    bring on GoW.

So what happened to that project? Did it get canned or something? I'd love a next gen killswitch, even if that slot is pretty much filled by GoW now.
