The grass can be greener elsewhere
Quote from SPQRHi guys !!!!!!!!Can you change me for Pandemic Studios Los Angeles
Goodbye Ubisoft, and welcome to the real world
Thanx,
Francois
Congratulations dude! I interviewed there and everybody was really really cool and the studio itself was very nice. I think you'll definitely like it. Are you working on Saboteur or something else?
i used to think that ubisoft was like a holy grail of sorts and you could work on some really sweet titles there.
perhaps I'm mistaken?
Yep, Ubisoft can be great...
I've worked on Splinter Cell 4 and Dark Messiah these last years.
But there's some others things with Ubisoft.
For Mazy, Pandemic L.A. worked also on the Star Wars Battlefront series ![]()
And for KoKo5oVaR (what a name !) thanx for my avatar ![]()
Ah nice, never really got around to playing them for real but the few times I did try them they worked quite well, definitely had the Star Wars vibe more than a lot of other recent games. Also, more games needs to be Battlefieldified~
Those two posts at the top of this page don't fit with my idea of Ubi as a great place to work.
i was alway thinking working at ubi is like the next best thing to being god ?!
valve being the main god?

Hum, not really, in my opinion.
I don't want to work on a projet for 6 months and then to another one.
I know a guy, working for Ubisoft for 6 years, and he made 9 games.
The only way for me to work again for them will be if they made a new P.O.D. game, with a new studio... let's say in Hawaii ?
Yeah, Ubisoft Hawaii sounds great.
OR NOT A ALL.
It really depends on what drives you. If it's working on such or such title, then yeah Ubisoft can be that dream place, granted you get to work in the studio that does all these games (example being the PoP team at Montréal). If you're in a smaller studio, you work on the projects that they give you (Montréal employees get to pick the games they work on) and the employees benefits are next to laughable sometimes.
When it comes to Ubi, it just really depends which studio you work for. Montréal and Shangaï being the most successful, they get all the goodies that go along working for a major industry player.
I'd love to work at Montréal.

Yeah, I've got a lot of friends working there... really a great and beautiful city (like the snow ?)
But, they are 2000... and growing. Teams are around 200 guys. Not sure it's great for work. Just pick a number and enter. Definitly not for me.
As the tv show said, I'm not a number, I'm a freeman ![]()
teams are a bit smaller where i work
200 is like the entire company lol
Try where I work, we're less than 1/10th of that ![]()
