It's soccer, only with fighting, racial/ethnic stereotypes, and Dragonball Z powerups. The single player isn't that great, but the multiplayer is wonderful.

Fifa international soccer !

The first Fifa game and my first PC game ever Oh boy that game was sweet, I still think it is the best soccer game there is. Although Dos had the bad habit to jam up the keyboard when more than two buttons were pressed at the same time. I used to play it with my brother and fight all the time about jamming the keyboard. Then we got a joystick that solved the problem

Also, I loved the NES soccer game where you had these

guys with big heads (they looked like midgets) etc.

Actua Soccer on the PC first, then WC 98 on the PSX

Haven't played that many (Played a bunch of Fifa games in the late 90s). Anyway, Fifa 94 is probably my favourite (played it the most) since you could basically go up to the opponents goal, stand in front of the goal keeper as he was about to shoot and pop it into the goal~~good shit

ISS 64 was pretty good.

Yay! My favourite was Actua Soccer 2 on the PS1. Great game

PES3 was about the pinnacle for me, just because I wasted so much time on the multiplayer aspect, hours and hours and hours were wasted at Uni by playing that game on a near constant basis.

Is Winning Eleven 8 PES6? Not even sure what they're up to now, but I'll buy whatever the newest one is as it's always fantastic.

I am glad I wasn't the only one to do that. "Hey goalie punt it out there. Opps I did a bicycle kick and knocked it in there!"

Another fun part about FIFA 94 or international was that when you got booked you could continue running around the field and the ref would try to chase you down. You could keep running for a long time before the ref would actually catch you and give you a yellow.

FIFA 98 for the N64 was good too I think, since that one had indoor soccer, which was a lot of fun. 3v3 and scoring with your goalie is a great feeling.

As for current games I think WE7 is the better of the two between it and FIFA. FIFA is more arcadey, but it lately has gotten better

Sensible World of Soccer is still the best playable football game and my alltime favourite. I just reinstalled it for my Amiga Emulator. It's just awesome! No other football game since then managed to beat that gameplay.

+ swos is also a club manager game in career mode which is a huge plus for long time motivation
