Half time of the USA - Italy match. We here in America have a saying which I find appropriate here: KILL THE REFS!!!!

The game just ended in a tie at 1-1. I have to agree with you about the ref - he was making terrible calls both ways. 3 red cards in a single game! The State's were down two men and Italy was down one man - and we still managed to get a tie.

I have to say the US team played a better game this time, they started off very quickly and they stayed with it. The seemed to really slow down at the end - but I imagine being down two players has some influence upon that. It was a good match, I just wish that ref would get hit by a bus. He was calling EVERYTHING in the first half, and absolutely NOTHING in the 2nd. What's that about?

The USA will play Ghana next.

    geez what a game

Yea. I'm watching it currently, but I blanked out. Did the the reff call a red card for that late tackle?

Italy's red was for an elbow to the face and both USA's were for late tackles, which should have been more yellows than anything else.

well being down 2 men and having to cover their old spots and doing a lot more running will tire you out a lot quicker than when its a full squad.

In terms of the Ref, I think after Pope's red, he slowed it down and was probably told or warned or something. Since he was very inconsistant as you said and calling everything in the beginning and nothing at the end. But isn't it after 3 reds your team is out? I always thought it was, but the announcers never said a thing about it, so I guess those aren't in FIFA rules. I do wish he would have let a lot more of the stuff go in the beginning, but then who knows, maybe Italy woulda done a better job? USA did a good job down a man, maybe Italy woulda rallied and won.

I just had a 50 minute long heart attack. (I missed the first half)

For the US to advance to round 2, they need to win against Ghana and they need Italy to win agaist Czech.

Number 4 was the guy who threw his elbow into McBride's face - see if you can find a picture of that.

Tomas Ujfalusi's Red Card in Ghana/Czech was the best I think so far. Since the Ref had this smirk and was just looking directly past probably thinking "You idiot." Wish I could find a picture of that.

Or Italy and the Czechs could draw, and USA could beat Ghana 5-0.

    ...

    Yeah.

Saw most of the US - Italy match, probably the best one I've seen so far (not that I've seen that many). Not a very good looking match but it was pretty damn intense with all those cards flying around, plus BLOOD!

Definitely good stuff for the US, was cheering for them~

US got called for soooo many fouls it was funny. We deserved them, but it was still nice to see them getting their aggression out by manhandling Italy (especially in the first half).

Now we just need to score a goal on our own instead of having the other team do it for us.

That was to me, the most suprising part of the entire game. It certainly took my mum off guard.

If it's ok for England to win on an own-goal ... then I'm sure it's ok for us to tie on one.

I hope we can go out with a bang... we certainly started this game with one.

Brazil sucks so far. Damn they have a boring playstyle, and they do not, as this game, have the best players in the world.

My guess so far, is a 1-1 Brazil vs. Australia.

the 2-0 wasn't deserved. Australia was playing way better for the most part of the game :/

nah 2nd half was cool imo. We got a lot better when Ronaldo was substituted. Although I don't really like Robinho, he played well and was very motivated, which gave the team some energy. Australia was better in the 2nd half too, making the match a lot more interesting.

I was disappointed with Japan though. I was cheering for them, I really wish they had beat Croatia. They improved a lot in the past years but they still have a long way to go.

"BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD", and they still manage to step on the ball and miss it.

Thats things that nubs do, like when it's just a bunch of friends playing for fun.

Aus #23 had a kickass shot, too bad he missed.

Really enjoyed the France vs. South Korea match. Only 3 teams I really care about in this World Cup are Japan, South Korea and Italy, and hey, at least all 3 are still in Not looking like that will be true for Japan for much longer though - I reckon beating Brazil is going to be a tall order for them, even if Brazil aren't on top form at the minute.

France got robbed on that one goal, though, so they should have won. But they really seemed to run out of steam for the last 20 minutes or so.
