The second shot looks good, I think thats whats used as the background in the HL2 menu? I saw it in a screenshot from the leaked beta :S!

Well I think the entire scene is a render/drawn, I doubt its ingame.

I just wish source would be capable of creating such stuff. The image has clearly been rendered and photoshopped.

even though thats not truely ingame .. the huge city eating machine does exist but is part of the 3d skybox from what i heard
