Then you won't mind if we use the same style decision on the maps?

    btw where are those textures?!

I'll be releasing a build (with textures) to prospective mappers sometime this week (there will also be some early working weapons/effects).

wow quake 2, after reading this thread i had to dig it out and play for a couple hours. what a fun game that was (and still is).

I only wish I knew how to map for quake 2. Since i learned mapping with hammer I'd imagine the transition to qradiant wouldn't be the easiest.

what program do you guys use?

Just use Worldcraft, it's Hammers old senile grandfather.

Edit: Actually, it seems that Worldcraft 1.6 isnt so keen on installing on newer computers. Anybody else gotten it to work?

I'm shooting for good old 256x256 texture sets. If you want to make textures try to make them a "set" as in they all go together. Right now I'm making a "deserty" set with rusty metal accents and such. Includes some cliffs, sand, and such as well!

You, however, can make your set be whatever you like. We're sticking with a "quasi-realistic" texture feel though. So anything like the TFC sets of old or CS sets of today are good to go.

Lol WorldCraft. It took a little bit of searching, but I found a version of WorldCraft that is stable on XP, 1.6A I think.

If anybody wants it, I can upload it to my site, to save people searching / having to register on file planet.

Can I join the wagon as a texture artist ? I love doing low-res map textures

oh btw, can't we just make the map in hammer, then export to .map and import it in quark ?

Certainly, Minos. Do you have a sample of your wares? I can't remember if I've seen them recently.

Yeah, WC 1.6 is just kind of funny. Almost all the hot keys are gone. Buttons are missing. It's like driving your car all day long and then coming outside and finding it has 3 wheels, the steering wheel is a dead cat on a stick, and the engine is a bunch of hampsters in wheels.

I really have no idea where those analogies came from.
