Best/worst ending in history of games

    What game do you think has the best/worst ending?

    I'd say that Final Fantasy VII has the best. It had me in tears of sadness and joy at the same time. That's unique.

    Can't come up with the worst but Far Cry had a pretty bad one... (good game but the story sucked).

    final fantasy 7 BY FAR.. the whole story is briliant

    which is kinda sad because afther that no FF seems to really do it for me anymore ( still played them all though )

    im actually going to play some basketball with my friend right now who is going to lend me ff7. i never played it (though i did beat ff9, after i told him he yelled at me)

    I think the whole MGS2 story is good even if the ending is a bit far-fetched.

    I've played FF7 through 4 times and every time I've noticed something new. The story (in all its complexity) is truly one of the greatest I've ever seen in a game.

    Half life had a killer ending with the gman telling you to come work for him...

    I do have to give the props to FF7 as well

    WORST ENDING EVER IS metroid, if you beat it in OVER two hours (like most mortal people)

    you just get a picture of samus in her suit and its like "congrats NOOB" and thats it, you wasted WEEKS!

    gman's voice acting in HL was the most interesting delivery of an ending for sure. but don't forget the crazy dood with the head that opens up that you have to defeat...found that a very satisfying end boss puzzle that made the ending all the more mysterious, as in "wtf was that?!"

    my favorite ending still has to be the dark side ending of Jedi Knight. When Kyle assumes all power over the empire he squashes the holographic display device that has the only image of his dead father. it was one of the few gaming moments that was really tragic, worthy of cinema.

    worst ending (to a game i otherwise enjoyed very much): Red Faction. gotta defuse that bomb...woopdeedoo. Pandora Tomorrow ending was meh also.

    Zelda Ocarina of Time was pretty great for me. Same with Mario 64, Nintendo games always have nice endings they make me fuzzy inside, which helps me forget about my hard cashew exterior.

    Worst Ending would have to be...... I dunno D: Doom ending was kinda weak.

    I just realised that it's ages ago since I played a good singleplayer game which was not an ego-shooter, since those often lack a decent story.

    MGS2 is good, i guess its not for those who cant stand long cutscenes, but your fault if your not patient enough

    Final Fantasy VII's ending wasn't that great, the final battle was amazingly cool, as was OMNISLASH GO GO GO. But after than that it was the blocky models climbing out of the crater and lots of ribbons and particle systems stopping the meteor. I liked the way Red XIII returns years later (presumeably after raping Yuffie or something), though. Storyline was great, but I guess they couldn't pull anything else at that point.

    Final Fantasy X had a better ending in my opinion, even if it did go on too long in parts. Tidus' "I know it's selfish, but this is my story" speech before the final battle rocked as did them not chickening out with Tidus and Auron, and the whistling on the pier before Yuna's speech. I really liked the whistling, same kind of "I'M WELLING UP BUT I'M A MAN AND IT'S ONLY A GAME SO I WILL PREVAIL" feeling I got at the end of FF7 disc 1.

    Sorry, but MGS2's ending sucked .

    But the whole ending in FF7 was extremely beautifully made.

    It's not just some particle effects. You know that is Holy and Lifestream, the reason for Aeris' sacrifice and within the lifestream there is Aeris herself destroying Meteor.

    (That's gonna sound pretty stupid to those who haven't played the game...)

    And the part where Red XIII climbs the cliff with his cubs and sees the destroyed Midgar and then the Final Fantsy VII logo appears on the screen which is followed by a fade to black and children's laughter in the backgroung. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.

    I liked the ff7 ending that game was awesome..infact...im gonna go play it now.

    I just wish i could start the game from the point of leaving midgar, from what i remember that took me ages..but ill get to dress up like a girl again LOL
