wow!!! i fianlly made some time to finish it and boy was I AMAZED!

and I take back what I said about the puzzles being too easy. I actually got stumped on a couple for a good 10 min a good bit into it.

Then ending was my favorite part. wow, just wow!

    SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Finished it last night.... The ending was like OMG. Although I was kinda hoping that the train departure would be a bit more epic (that you can walk into the train and there are citizens inside looking all exhausted from the battle and hopeful to make it out alive)... But that slight disappointment disappeared 5 seconds later when the train drove out of the station....fucking awesome.

I still don't understand how they can make this with HL2

why not? The train already starts at the edge of the city. So the distance to the part where you get zapped isn't really that long. Besides Valve has made improvements to Source along the way.

Personally I can't wait for more stuff from Valve. Turtle rock is working on something tba, and TF2 might still be alive lol.

    SPOILER

Notice the sound design in the end battle with the strider? They sound like this odd bio-mechanical war machine, which sort of gives it a lost puppy type of feel, except it certainly isn't friendly. That said, the way it moves (and sounds) kind of makes it feel like it was playing with you.

Anyway, the sound there added a lot to the creepiness factor of that battle. A+

I would recommend buying it by Steam.

More money for valve, no money for EA

No seriously, I think Steam is a great platform for small independent game devs (Darwinia, Shadowgrounds...) and should be supported.

the thing TR is working on is super awesome screaming fun. I spent a few late late nights playing it at thier offices and that was like a year ago so it must be double awesome by now.

Yea, steam is heaven for indies. Red Orchestra would never of been published without it (they didn't find a willing retail publisher until after Valve signed them onto steam). It will hopefully do more good for indies in the future
