Pair found guilty of fatal stab attack

Two men have been found guilty of a frenzied attack on a university student who was fatally stabbed in the heart as he waited for a lift home after a night out. Daniel Pollen, 20, died after receiving a two-inch stab wound. His friend Andrew Griffiths was repeatedly punched and stabbed in the assault, which was caught on CCTV.

The pair had been out celebrating Mr Griffiths' 20th birthday on July 8 last year.

They were waiting for Mr Pollen's sister to pick them up when they were attacked by three men.

Timmy Sullivan, 19, from Barking, and 25-year-old Michael Onokah, from Ilford, were found guilty of wounding both students with intent.

They were also found guilty of the grievous bodily harm with intent of Mr Griffiths by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court in southeast London.

The pair, both painters and decorators, were cleared of murdering Mr Pollen.

A 17-year-old youth from Stratford, who was 16 at the time of the attack, has already pleaded guilty to murder and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Mr Pollen, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, was in his second year at Southampton University studying media when he died.

Mr Griffiths, a Durham University medical student from Chigwell, Essex, was treated in hospital for his injuries and later discharged.

He has called for a change in the law to make it a more serious offence to carry a knife.

"Because of a knife my life will never be the same again, they have taken my best friend from me," he said.

I have watched the video of this.. incident and it really got me furious! Some no-life's take a precious life, a brother, a best vriend, for.. for what? Out of boredom?

I have no words for it... Where are we going with this world?

    Rest in peace...

this shit is happening all over the place.

it's not like some signature campaign can stop it.

so there is nothing to do really, except to put on your bullet proof west and hope that no one hates you enough.

I can't be passive, this hurts too much. Imagine this would be your brother... I hope I will have the balls to stand up against unjustice like this if I ever get in such a situation. I think I'll rather go down fighting then to let scum like that have it's way.

I know this happens alot, but that clip was shocking in a way I can't realy explain.. It's just so unjust and I refuse to be cynical!

This world really is a fucked up place with shitloads of retarded fuck ups.

I have heard of a lot of knive stabbings recently. It's a shame. These people, especially all the gangsta fuckers belong in concentration camps in my opinion. Prison is too good for them.

Just a recent case from last weekend:

There were like half a million people. As you can imagine there was big chaos. And no police officer would shoot nearby so many people.

If i ever see shit like that IRL id go scarface on these wannabe gangstas. The youth is really starting to sicken me, not just these violent ones but the whole culture that thinks its cool to be a gangsta terrorist

I really hate the larger part of the youth over here, who seem to think it's cool to ignite fights with other people. Really, they seriously think it's cool. RD and tomato probably know what I mean.

No motive whatsoever it appears, it could possibly be some sort of gang initiation thing (I've heard urban myths about gangs recruiting new people after they do nasty things to other people), chilling whatever the background behind it...

No, after seeing the clip and after reading the story, I am sure this was just a dark impulse some weak kid couln'd ignore. Just that, nothing more, nothing less. After the kid suddenly beat the poor guy, the other blokes joined the fight (were is the common sense?) and even stabbed (! FUCK WHY YOU FUCKING RETARD WHY FFS YOU COWARD!!!!DAMNIT!) the poor guy..

I hope I never meet them in real life..

I think the whole mentality with some of these people especially the kids is they are ignorant of a knife's power. I'm sure some of them carry the things because they think they could just quickly stab someone to hurt them but not actually kill them because it's 'not a gun'. Of course in reality it only takes one thrust in the wrong place and someone could bleed to death internally in minutes...

So the plan to stop this shit from happening is to go scareface on them and put ganstas in concentration camps?

    Great plan.

I would never carry a knife,

    even for selfprotection.

Carrying weapons in public is just

stupid and unnecessary and can lead to

    bad situations.

Randomly stabbing people on the street is fucked up.

I'd lock up the person in a mental institute/prison for life.

Yeah, never carry a knife yourself cause that just makes the situation a whole lot worse.

And remember, the only good knife defense is your legs being used to run away. FAST.

I fight to good to need knife, and I also agree with d3ads with the 'it's not a gun' mentallity but these guys where adult. Stabbing someone in the chest (heart area) is generally not meant to just wound somebody.

    What's your suggestion Mawibse?
